Through April 10, two additional and rare artifacts are on display at the Pigeon Forge museum. Titanic survivor Helen Churchill Candee gave a silver brandy flask and a pendant a family heirloom to a Edward Kent as he escorted her to the lifeboats. Mrs. Candee believed Mr. Kent would survive before she would. The items were in Kents jacket pocket when his body was recovered from the cold sea.

The flask and the pendant remained in the Candee family until her granddaughter put the brandy flask up for auction at the Henry Aldridge & Son Auction House in England. Both artifacts will remain at the museum until April 10. They will then be auctioned off in London, according to a Titanic Museum press release.

I was really excited to go here as I am a huge Titanic fan! I wasn’t sure what to expect but it really is fascinating! They have real artifacts from the actual Titanic as well as from the movie. Very informative but also very fun. The wait was not that long and they had outdoor heaters which was nice for an early spring trip the air was a little cool. You can take your time and not feel rushed. I enjoyed being able to go at my own pace. They have audio devices that you can get to add to the experience and separate ones for children to keep the entertained with a scavenger hunt. I didn’t get to use mine all that much as I was traveling with my infant who became tired and fussy so I missed out on a lot. I will be going back for sure! Very friendly staff and very clean bathrooms.

Titanic: World’s Largest Museum Attraction

“When you put your hand in the water, move it around. It makes a big difference.”

Third Class stateroom “set a new standard of comfort” according to its narrated exhibit.

Titanic ship’s officer Steve stands with us on the refrigerated bridge of the doomed ocean liner — the all-indoors replica in landlocked Tennessee — helping us understand what it’s like to splash around in the sub-freezing North Atlantic. The 28-degree water circulating in a trough is one of the attraction’s interactive exhibits. When you dip in your hand it’s cruelly cold, but when you move it around — like you would if you were trying to swim — it feels like a bayonet is being stabbed into your arm. Ow, it hurts. “Now,” said Steve, “you know exactly what it felt like.”

Officer Steve is one of the many costumed crew members that wander the Titanic attraction, popping up seemingly out of nowhere, ready to answer questions or call for assistance on their Bluetooth headsets if you stump them, which probably doesn’t happen very often. We normally steer clear of role-playing interpreters, but at Titanic Pigeon Forge they’re actually helpful, and they don’t try to pretend that you’ve somehow traveled back in time to 1912.

That sinking feeling: interactive decks let you discover when you would have tumbled to your doom.

Tourists stand in the path of the Tennessee Titanic, which isn’t going anywhere.

The Grand Staircase reproduction cost over $1 million, but fans of the film still think it’s too small.

The Titanic is a must see for any Titanic buff. Full of history and lots of on hands experiences. The grand stair case was awesome. I particularly liked the exhibit from the 1997 movie. I think children 3rd grade and up would like it. Probably not so much the younger ones.
