About Frida The Immersive Dream

Two different Van Gogh immersive exhibits are coming to Houston

Explore the world through the eyes of the legendary Frida Kahlo a brilliant, uncompromising painter who created some of the historys most iconic artwork. The groundbreaking team behind the smash hit Immersive Van Gogh now turn their eye for innovation towards the work of a woman who boldly told the story of her life in brushstrokes.

As you stroll through the Lighthouse Immersive gallery, you will see the Mexico-born artists work come to life on a grand scale and discover the people, events, and obstacles that made her the extraordinary woman she was. The mesmerizing, large-scale projections, accompanied by a ravishing musical score, will sweep you up as you encounter Frida as never before.

Frida Kahlos art is not only beautiful on an aesthetic level it has also become a universal symbol of resilience and perseverance.

Brave and brutally honest, Kahlo transferred her fears and pain onto canvas in a way that resonates even more powerfully with us today. Kahlo used art to empower herself and, in so doing, has become one of the most beloved and popular artists of all time.

Kahlos art has been described as magic realism blending realistic depictions of her life with fantastical elements to reflect her inner thoughts and struggles. Using state-of-the-art technology, the 360-degree experience invites you to step inside the colorful and vibrant world of Frida Kahlo as never before with Frida: Immersive Dream.

The Mfah Brings Van Gogh Paintings To Houston For A Once

Vincent van Gogh left behind an astounding collection of art created over just one decade.

More than 50 pieces by the iconic Dutch painter will be on display at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston starting March 10.

He is a unique combination of intensity, technique and amazing imagery, which is why we love him today, said David Bomford, the Audrey Jones Beck curator in the department of European art and chairman of the department of conservation at the MFAH. What is amazing about van Gogh as an artist is the extraordinary brevity of his career. In this exhibit, we are looking at the entire 10-year career from when he became an artist to when he died.

Vincent van Gogh: His Life in Art takes viewers through the artists novice drawings, his discovery of Impressionism in Paris and continues on to the end of his career in the south of Francewhen he created some of his best-known and most loved paintings.

When he moved to the south of France, suddenly, this astounding clarity, brilliance and radiance took over his art, Bomford said. The combination of color and brushwork is something that had never been seen before.

But while van Gogh was creating rich, colorful paintings of the French countryside,he was struggling with severe mental health issues.

One of van Goghs final paintings, Wheatfield with Crows, seems to foreshadow the artists eventual suicide. A reproduction of the painting will be on display at the MFAH.

Delta Is Asking Airlines To Share Their No

How can you be bored with landscape?, asks Hockney in an interview with Dutch art critic Hans den Hartog Jager for the MFAH exhibition catalogue regarding a lack of strong interest in the public these days for landscape. Landscape is infinite, isnt it?

If Van Gogh in the late-1880s had his Arles and his Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Hockney since the late-90s has had his Yorkshire Wolds in northeastern England, having returned to the U.K. after decades in Los Angeles where he produced his most iconic works.

Vincent van Gogh, Tree Trunks in the Grass, 1890, oil on canvas,

The Yorkshire Wolds are located in East Riding county where town names such as Bugthorp, Foggathorpe, Fangfoss, Sigglesthorn, Thixendale and Uncleby sound to an American ear right out of Dr. Seuss. The boy from Bradford in Yorkshire had come full circle and moved a far thematic cry away from his famous L.A. swimming pools.

Ive always found the world quite beautifuland thats an important thing I share with Van Gogh, Hockney says. We both really enjoy looking at the world. In this part of Hockneys world, the very British geologic designation of a wold is typically an open, elevated landscape, here in Yorkshire specifically of Upper Cretaceous limestone. In this chalky, hilly wold plateau cut by dry glacial-carved valleys, Hockney produced landscapes of a rich world in constant change and flow with the seasons.

You might be amped up for the blockbuster Van Gogh exhibition thats coming to Houston this summer, so you might as well brush up on the iconic Dutch painters works with the exhibition: Hockney Van Gogh: The Joy of Nature, now open at MFAH.

The Joy of Nature explores the shared vision of pop-art expressionist David Hockney, and post-impressionist Vincent Van Gogh. Though the artists grew up in totally different places, geographically and in terms of artistic landscapes, both expressed a stark affinity for nature through the medium of their art.

The exposition will reveal Van Goghs undeniable inspiration in Hockneys work with 10 of his paintings and drawings, as well as nearly 50 of Hockneys sketches, paintings, and experimental videos.

Through a bold use of color and experimentation with perspective, each artist crafts a painterly world that is utterly individual and true to themselves, yet offers immense universal appeal, the museum writes on its website.

Hockney Van Gogh: The Joy of Nature premiered at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and the Houston presentation marks the first time the two renowned artists have been paired in an American museum exhibition.

Vincent Van Goghs Early Work Was Mediocre This Exhibition Shows How He Became Great

Walk through an immersive Van Gogh exhibit in Texas this summer

HOUSTON What was Vincent van Goghs gift, exactly? To many, his gift was his suffering. To them, he is Vincent the patron saint of psychic anguish, the acme of tortured genius.

But if you like pictures, his real gift is very clear. Van Gogh knew how to infuse pictures and the things within pictures with life. He let mute objects hold their own in the world alongside things that are alive, which he already loved for being so. And in the process, he played us all into the great game, the cosmic tautology, of an existence in love with itself.

A major van Gogh show has opened at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with the art primarily from the worlds two greatest van Gogh collections: the Kröller-Müller Museum and the Van Gogh Museum, both in the Netherlands. Beefed up with scattered works from public and private collections in the United States and Europe, the exhibition ranges from his early to late work. Its not a full-blown retrospective, and not everything in it is brilliant. But thats at least partly because hardly anything van Gogh painted before the final three years of his life was special.

Highlights include an intense early self-portrait, several stellar drawings, a rarely seen painting of a stagecoach , a symphonically great late painting of irises and my new favorite painting in the world a small, unfinished emerald-green picture of a farmhouse in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, made just a month before van Gogh killed himself.

A pipe.
