The California Woods and Nature Reserve are located close to downtown Cincinnati and cover an extensive area of over 113 acres of forested green space. The Duke Energy Childrens Museum is a fascinating attraction for children of all ages . Your children will have hours of educational fun without even noticing that they are learning. The Museum has eight theme-play areas, of which two have been specially designed for pre-schoolers and even toddlers. As the kids enjoy climbing, crawling and having fun they will be learning all about the world around them and their place in the world. If you live in the area you can become a member of the museum which will allow you to explore for an hour on Mondays and Saturdays before the museum opens to the general public.

Train Station Tower A

Most people dont know how to sneak up and enjoy this hidden spot. Just head up the stairs on the right before you enter the IMAX at the back of the center. Once up you can find lots of train memorabilia, some freebie train coloring things . We enjoyed looking out over the Queensgate Freight Yard and seeing the many trains switching in the yard behind the center. There are huge picture windows for great views. Tower A is open Wednesday Sunday from Noon 4 pm. During the holidays it is open daily for longer hours. *2020 Hours had changed due to the recent renovations. Call ahead to see if the area is open.

A: All Sunday birthday parties include a small animal visit! This consists of snakes, lizards, turtles/tortoises, or hissing cockroaches. Saturday birthday parties include complimentary giraffe feeding vouchers to use at your leisure.

A Day At The Duke Energy Children’s Museum

Kids can explore and burn off energy with hands-on activities at the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

The Duke Energy Children’s Museum at Cincinnati Museum Center is the perfect place for your kids of all ages to explore and burn off some energy. Even the 13 year old in our group had a great time! Head down the escalator to find the Children’s Museum. You’ll see an aerial view of “The Woods” as you are coming down the stairs.

Have some fun learning about physics in the ball pit area. Load up the balls into the overhead bin either by tossing, loading them using a pulley system, or using the treadmill to work the conveyor belt. Then, when the bell rings, get ready to have the balls fall on top of you.

The giant teeth in the Inside the Grin exhibit are a favorite spot. Learn to brush and floss on this larger-than-life-sized mouth!

Meet a variety of reptiles. We saw a snake and a turtle! There are lots of opportunities for active pretend play at the Children’s Museum. Put on an apron and prepare lunch for your hungry customers at the diner.

Take care of your furry friends in the veterinarian’s office, bring your sick baby to the doctor, or shop for groceries at the store.

See how a house is framed and add the drywall to finish it off.

Sit in the cab of a crane, load up rocks, and haul them away. There are lots of live animals to check out…snakes, frogs, and hissing cockroaches! Oh my!

The Junior Firefighter Birthday Parties at the Cincinnati Fire Museum include options for three different party packages that will truly fulfill your childs dream of becoming a firefighter. All Birthday Party packages allow for two hours of party time. Parties are designed for children ages 3 through 6 and are held on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00am to 12:30pm and 1:00pm to 3:30pm. The parties are designed for 15 children and their parents at a max of 30 people. You must supply the refreshments. Decorations are provided at our second and third level packages.
