A number of Houston museums offer free admission on Thursdays.

Among them are Children’s Museum of Houston, Houston Museum of Natural Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Some are free during specific hours and you may have to pay to see certain exhibits.

Children’s Museum of HoustonFree Family Night is every Thursday from 5pm-8pm. Advanced online ticket reservations are required to enter. No walk-up visits will be admitted. You can purchase a general admission ticket online or upon arrival at the HMNS box office. The list below comprises all the prices for admission to the permanent exhibit halls.

To avoid charges, take advantage of Free Thursday, and visit the museums permanent exhibits on a Thursday between 2 PM and 5 PM. The natural history museum, comprising the Burke Baker Planetarium, Cockrell Butterfly Center, and Wortham Giant Screen Theatre, is open from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Take Public Transit To The Hmns

Taking public transportation instead of driving is easy and more cost-effective. The Houston Museum District Station on the METRO Red Line is within a 5-minute walk of the HMNS, and its the sole METRORail station with both northbound and southbound platforms located on opposite streets.
