Arizona Capitol Museum More than 20 exhibits tell Arizonas story from territorial days to the present.Admission is always free.

African American Multicultural Museum in Scottsdale emphasises contributions of races and cultures while incorporating the African American culture.Admission is free, Thursday to Saturday, 1 5 p.m.

Arizona Heritage Center at Papago Park your kids can learn about early settlements, World War II and the Copper Mines. They can also see a closeup of minerals/gems.Admission is FREE for Veterans/Active Military and AHS Members.

Arizona Military Museum operated by the National Guard Historical Society. Admission is always free.

The Place For Under Threes

Children’s Museum to celebrate MLK Jr. Day with free admission

Babies and toddlers can get in on the action at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix. The Place for Under Threes is an area specially designed for young exploration. Park your stroller and leave your shoes at the door.

On the main floor, a soft playground, pictured above from the third floor looking down, seems to be quite an attraction for all ages. Parents beware…you might have to crawl in after them to get them to leave!

Here’s a tip: You can’t rent a stroller at the Museum. This is a place to get the kids OUT of the stroller. As a matter of fact, they encourage you to leave your stroller in the car if you brought it along.

While most of the following places are within walking distance from a First Friday Trolley Stop, some people prefer to drive and not be subject to waiting for a trolley. Heard Museum: Every First Friday except in March, the famous Heard Museum opens from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with free admission. Each month the Heard shares a different program focused on the cultural pulse of Phoenix and the Southwest. The Cafe and Cantina are open for purchase of food, drinks or snacks, and a cash bar is also available for both adult and family-friendly beverages. The Heard Museum Shop is open, too.

The Nash: Right on the First Friday route, you can enjoy free jazz performances on First Friday evenings at The Nash. The Nash is owned by Jazz in Arizona, a 501 nonprofit organization. On other days of the month at The Nash, youll find regular, ticketed performances, very reasonably priced, as well as jam sessions . This is an all ages venue.

Phoenix Art Museum: Phoenix Art Museum opens its doors to the public with free admission from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for First Friday. Special policies and fees may apply to ticketed and special exhibitions. The Museum is directly on the First Friday Trolley Routethis is actually a hub location for the trolley. The Museum is also just a few steps from a METRO Light Rail Station.

Pangaea Land Of The Dinosaurs

See 80 animatronic dinosaurs, pterosaurs and other reptiles. Each dinosaur has an educational kiosk where visitors can learn all about the prehistoric reptile. Interactive experiences include fossil presentations, dinosaur trivia games and a “dinosaur” available for meet-and-greets. For an additional fee, children can build a dinosaur with clay, “excavate” a dinosaur or etch an imprint of a dinosaur on a leaf rub.

A hidden gem in downtown Phoenix, this fascinating museum tells the story of historical Arizona, when mail was delivered by stagecoach and bandits had bounties on their heads. If you thought you wouldnt find museums at airports, you would be surprised â this airport has three free family-friendly museum exhibits.Jump on the free sky train that drops you at the airport at no cost at all. Then, spend a beautiful day at their museums. However, do note that the art exhibits rotate so make sure to visit occasionally for a much wonderful experience. The art exhibitions here are more than impressive, featuring a high degree of creativity. Get to learn the various stages this center underwent before reaching its current state. You can also dive into the science and technology of airplanes and avionics. Every exhibition is placed on a table for you to understand in clear terms.

Hall Of Flame Museum Of Firefighting

With more than 100 items on display, the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting is the largest firefighting museum in the world.
