From Aracely: I start every planning process by dreaming up the invitation to set the theme.

I whipped up a perfectly pink printable, complete with iconic MOIC exhibit elements like striped pool floaties, gummy bears, bananas, ice cream, popsicles, and cherries!

I also designed a matching My First Year poster board to showcase all of her fun milestones.

Next up, the dessert table I knew I didnt want to spend an arm and a leg on a wooden backdrop, so I found a more disposable alternative online.

It was an 8ft x 8 ft blank canvas made out of cardboard that I covered in photo backdrop paper in pink!

Next, I taped up some lines with gaffers tape to made a grid reminiscent of the tile walls at the sprinkle pool.

I turned some silver 16 mylar letter balloons pink with some spray paint and embellished them with mini bananas.

Museum of Ice cream theme cake, cookies, donuts, ice cream cone ...

This is what Robynshared about planning/styling the party-

When a mom approached us to create a party based on the Museum of Ice Cream, a recent art exhibit in Las Angeles, we were excited to start thinking outside of the party box! Obviously we relied heavily on a pink and yellow palette and included many of the décor items prevalently featured in photos on many personal and celebrity social media accounts.

Highlights included:

Pink and yellow banana backdrop Sprinkle covered standing name letters Pink 3D pay phone Ice cream bowls and spoons, complete with sprinkle topped ice cream Ice cream cups and straws with cherry straw decoration Plus, ice cream decorated gift bags

This was a party to celebrate a baby girls first birthday. The theme was as fun, modern and unique as the lovely family for which it was created! We started with a large backdrop covered half in yellow and half in pink rolled paper. We added pink and yellow paper bananas in a grid pattern, keeping the design clean and simple.

Never Faux Fun!

Around the border of the table, we added to the fun by using yellow and pink plates with bowls of faux ice cream. Styrofoam balls were covered in craft paint and sprinkles were glued to the top to create our faux ice cream. Soft serve style ice cream cups were used to add one more ice cream element to this fun theme. The cherry on top was literally a paper cherry décor attached to the paper straws to complete the look.

Meet Marlan The Party Planner Mom

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour – “You Always Have a Party” (Commercial, 1980)

This sweet-as-ice-cream party theme all started with a unique find. As soon as I saw the Arteriors cherries, I knew I needed them in my life, says Marlan Willardson, co-founder of Twink + Sis. I had to make them the focal point of the party and style everything else around them. And with her daughter Milas fifth birthday coming up, she had the perfect opportunity to design a dream party alongside sister Laurén LaRocca of Twink + Sis.

Inspired by the popular Museum of Ice Cream, Marlan wanted Mila and her friends to be immersed in all things ice cream. At the center of the table, they placed a show-stopping ombre papier-mâché pineapple and then piled on the sweets: swirl-topped ice cream cones and more pineapples from Bonjour Fete. To fill in the table with fluffy texture: blossoming peonies in light pink and white hues.

What To Expect At The Museum Of Ice Cream

Ice cream is surely one of the most beloved food items. Its related to happiness and sharing. I wonder how no one created an exhibition or a museum dedicated to ice cream up until 2016. But its finally arrived.

Museum of Ice Cream is a series of pop-up exhibitions that started in NYC and then expanded to LA and SF. The art installations were super cute and created for everyone to interact with them. I got the visit the SF location last week and I enjoyed myself a lot!
