A Day At The Duke Energy Children’s Museum

Kids can explore and burn off energy with hands-on activities at the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

The Duke Energy Children’s Museum at Cincinnati Museum Center is the perfect place for your kids of all ages to explore and burn off some energy. Even the 13 year old in our group had a great time! Head down the escalator to find the Children’s Museum. You’ll see an aerial view of “The Woods” as you are coming down the stairs.

Have some fun learning about physics in the ball pit area. Load up the balls into the overhead bin either by tossing, loading them using a pulley system, or using the treadmill to work the conveyor belt. Then, when the bell rings, get ready to have the balls fall on top of you.

The giant teeth in the Inside the Grin exhibit are a favorite spot. Learn to brush and floss on this larger-than-life-sized mouth!

Meet a variety of reptiles. We saw a snake and a turtle! There are lots of opportunities for active pretend play at the Children’s Museum. Put on an apron and prepare lunch for your hungry customers at the diner.

Take care of your furry friends in the veterinarian’s office, bring your sick baby to the doctor, or shop for groceries at the store.

See how a house is framed and add the drywall to finish it off.

Sit in the cab of a crane, load up rocks, and haul them away. There are lots of live animals to check out…snakes, frogs, and hissing cockroaches! Oh my!

The museum has been closed since March 2020.

Ticket reservations began Monday morning for Museum Center members. Nonmembers can purchase tickets and make reservations beginning June 16.

CMC says reservations are being made in order to plan for proper crowd sizes. CMC is still operating under limited capacity. The goal is to allow for 200 people per hour inside the Childrens Museum.

All guests two and older are required to wear a mask unless a medical condition is presented.

Most of the people coming into the Children’s Museum are kids, and they’re not old enough to be vaccinated yet, CMC Vice President of Marketing and Communications Cody Hefner told WLWT. So we are still wearing masks to protect them, to protect other people with underlying health conditions because we’re, we’re close, but we’re not out of the woods yet.

CMC says reservations will only be required for the Childrens Museum.

Cincinnati Children’s Museum Reopens Thursday

The Cincinnati Children’s Museum will reopen its doors on Thursday after being closed for more than a year.

Guests will have to reserve tickets for entry and are also required to wear masks.

The Cincinnati Museum Center is still requiring all guests ages 2 and up to wear masks for the continued protection of those who are not vaccinated, including children and those with underlying health conditions.

Weve been very mindful about how we can provide a safe museum experience that still delivers that wow factor that defines Cincinnati Museum Center, President & CEO Elizabeth Pierce said in June. Through continued consultation with healthcare professionals and updated guidance from the CDC, were excited to be able to reopen more of our experiences with the confidence that were doing so in a safe way.

During the extended closure, staff has spent time refreshing the Childrens Museum and “ensuring each aspect is operating at peak performance,” officials said.

Officials said guests will be required to reserve a timed entry ticket to ensure social distancing. Members can reserve tickets now and non-members can reserve tickets up to four days prior to their visit.

We know were not the only ones who will have this day circled on their calendars, Pierce said. Seeing kids climb through The Woods, splash through Waterworks and have those transformative moments of joy and epiphany are some of our most fulfilling moments as museum professionals.
