1. Plan! When purchasing tickets, decide if you want to go to the Creation Museum , too. We did both in one weekend and definitely recommend visiting both places! The Ark Encounter takes at least 4-5 hours. There is a 20% military discount for active and retired members of the the United States Armed Forces. Follow the Ark Encounters blog or Facebook page for occasional discounts.
2. Read the story of Noahs Ark before you go. I recommend starting at Genesis chapter 5 to get a better understanding of the setting.
3. Get to the Ark Encounter early. Like, 15 minutes before opening time. When we arrived a few minutes before opening time, there was already a long line! There is a bus that will take you from the parking lot to the ark. As the day progressed, the lines got longer and longer. We all agreed we made a good decision getting there early to avoid the long lines at some of the exhibits.

This is a great getaway for a couple or a family who likes animals. Our kids loved playing with the cats, the dog, the chickens and the horses. We had fun sledding and horseback riding and exploring the farm. Our room was huge and easily accommodated our family of 4. The 3 breakfasts were great and Jen was very hospitable. I would recommend this B& B to families with well-behaved children. We read the reviews on Yelp before our trip and can assure you that the couple of bad reviews here were a result of discourteous guests.

Our family enjoyed the spacious suites. We use three rooms as our extended family was enjoying visiting both the ARK and the Creation Museum.The breakfast was great! We travel quite a bit and I’m getting picky about breakfasts, so this was a plus

Nice hotel. Decent location….located about half way between The Creation Museum and The Ark Encounter…which were two of our destinations. Our room was a bit loud…on the interstate side of the hotel. There are also train tracks near the hotel, which can be loud. Breakfast was very nice…large selection of items, although more gluten free options would be good. Biggest issue…the carpet in our room was VERY dirty and needs to be cleaned. After my shower, I had to re-wash my filthy/sticky feet after being barefoot for only 20 minutes.

Another large gift shop is located in the lower level of the ark, and you can take home stuffed animals, jewelry, books/DVDs, homeschool curriculum, fudge, and other souvenir-type items.
Food options include Emzaras, a buffet-style restaurant soft-serve and hand-dipped ice cream funnel cakes and grill items such as pizza, burgers, and hot dogs.

Ark Encounter Tips So You Dont Miss The Boat
1. Ark Encounter is 45 minutes south of the Creation Museum. Many people think that the Ark is right next to the Creation Museum, however it is not. If you are staying overnight at a hotel, know that there are great options in both areas. We stayed at a Comfort Inn only 6 miles from the Ark.
2. Plan your time well and purchase the tickets that make sense for your family. If you plan on visiting the Creation Museum at the same time, purchasing the combo pass will not only save you money but also keep you from rushing through everything. I do think that it is easier to process all the exhibits over a couple days.
> > If youre wondering how long you will spend at the Ark . . . We spent about two hours in the Ark itself, and a total of five hours on property . Keep in mind that the length of your visit will depend on crowd levels. As to our time in the Ark, we did not rush. We read most of the information on the first two decks. However on Deck 3, we did pick up the pace and did not read everything. Deck 3 had a lot of cool information on validity of Ark history and the science of the flood. This is where another day could be helpful to truly take it all in.

The hotel features a nice fitness center and indoor pool/hot tub area. My children and husband swam both nights in the pool and had a blast! The hotel was really peaceful and quiet, and after a day of walking at the Ark and a night of swimming in the pool, we definitely slept well!
A full breakfast buffet was available with waffles, biscuits and gravy, eggs, bagels/toast, cereal, fruit, muffins, yogurt, apples/bananas, milk and juice. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were offered free of charge in the hotel lobby, and vending options were available for purchasing snacks.
