Central Park West Building
In January 2018, the Museum announced that it had acquired the former First Church of Christ, Scientist building at 96th Street and Central Park West, and planned to move to the new facility after making renovations. The Museum hopes to move into the new building, which will have 41,300 square feet for galleries and exhibitions, in 2023.

A New York staple, the Metropolitan Museum of Art showcases over 5,000 years of art from around the world. The Met has a wide variety of programs for kids and their families to help them engage with the art, like story times, art treks around the museum, family afternoons and more. They also offer an audio guide for kids, which includes thirteen tours with kid-targeted messages for artworks throughout the major areas of the museum.
The Met is pretty vast and if you have young kids they may get a bit exhausted , we suggest checking online and mapping out what floors and wings you would like to visit. A few favorites are the Egyptian Art Wing, European Paintings and not to be miss is the Kimono Style: The John C. Weber Collection which is a gorgeous exhibit of kimonos from the late Edo period through the early 20th century and runs until February.

Dimenna Childrens History Museum
This is one of the most special museums for American kids, and in particular for New Yorkers. It presents American history during the last 350 years, with the special focus on New York City. Bringing memories of children who grew up to become famous doctors, lawyers politicians, athletes etc. There are various programs your family can join if you visit this museum. America to Zanzibar creators also tapped into New York Citys vast museum resources, borrowing objects from sister institutions to enhance its offerings. Partnering with fellow museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for example, the Childrens Museum of Manhattan was able to secure stunning 13th century Iranian tiles to showcase in the exhibition. The Childrens Museum of Manhattan has also partnered with the Hispanic Society of America on components of the exhibition.
Beyond the museum world, America to Zanzibar was enhanced through relationships with emerging artists, performers, and speakers. The exhibitions authentic Moroccan rug market stall, for example, includes rugs designed and fabricated in conjunction with Alia Kate, founder and designer of the Kantara Project, which specializes in hand-woven rugs made by womens weaving cooperatives throughout Morocco. The museum also worked closely with the Kingding Sindaw Melayu Heritage Dance theater ensemble to incorporate the musical and artistic traditions of Philippine indigenous tribes into program associated with the exhibit.
The Look Make Show The First Digital Commons Of Child
The Look Make Show is the first ever digital commons of child-centered on-demand arts education. Such perspectives await Childrens Museum of Manhattan visitors now through January 2017. The exhibition has also been designed to travel. With content relevant for families of all ages, the Childrens Museum of Manhattan staff hope it will journey to other childrens or art museums where it may in turn sow greater appreciation and curiosity about Muslim cultural diversity and how we might all be better global citizens.
Childrens Museum Of The Arts
The Childrens Museum of the Arts in Manhattan is designed to inspire children both to make art and to learn about it a place where production and presentation of art are seamlessly integrated.
The museum is organized around a series of classic white boxes for the art studios and large central gallery. Recognizing that children also need spaces to let off steam or express their independence, these functional spaces are intertwined with a band of kid-centric spaces. These spaces are transformed into highly specific moments through a color wheel that incorporates the different programs: red kids bathrooms, an orange floor for the sink-o-rama washing station, a yellow bridge for graffiti art, a green stair-slide and ball pit, a blue upholstered quiet room, and a purple clay bar where a bartender serves modeling clay and advice to kids for claymation projects.

American Museum Of National History
All of recommended Manhattan museums to visit with your children are terrific. But, we must say that this museum is among the most famous around the world! American Museum of National History is home to the most magnificent collection of the dinosaurs around the globe! Children just love it. The majority of the fossils were dug, and the rest are the casts. Crossing the threshold of Theodor Roosevelt Rotunda, youre confronting the huge barosaurus rearing up on the back legs to protect its young. Imagine how would your kids react to this. The fossils were remodeled during the 1990 renovation, placing the dinosaurs into the positions of how they are believed to have moved. Dont miss the Discovery room, while visiting this museum. There your children can play seeking out insects, birds, and mammals etc.
New Museum Of Contemporary Art

The New Museum is a contemporary art museum in Manhattans lower east side. Their goal is to create a dialogue between the public and contemporary artists. Off Grid by artist Kapwani Kiwanga is a great exhibition for kids and families on display through October of this year. Kids can enjoy the exhibitions colors, shapes and natural lights and adults can enjoy engaging with Kiwangas ideas about how bodies experience and inhabit structures of power.
While youre there, also be sure to check out the 7th floor Sky Room. The floor to ceiling windows and balcony offer beautiful views of Downtown Manhattan that anyone of any age can enjoy.
Keep an eye out for the museums Family Days! These events include free admission to all exhibitions for kids and two adults per family and art-making activities at extended morning hours. If you cant make it on Family Day, dont worry: entry to the New Museum is always free for anyone under 18. The Metropolitan Museum Of Art
Probably the most famous museum around the world. It was established in 1880. It occupies 13 acres of Central Park. On the ground floor, there is the exposure of Egyptian art. There is the atrium with the glass walls surrounding the temple of Dendur. It was moved from the Nil-side setting to Manhattan. There is also Roman and Greek art. Those parts reopened in 2007, after the makeover. Furthermore, you can see the art of America, Africa, and Oceania. We could continue with the collections forever. What must be said is that youll miss a lot if you dont take your children to this Manhattan museum. The Met is the place where they can see the full diversity in the world culture.

The Childrens Museum of Manhattan is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was founded by Bette Korman, under the name GAME , in 1973. The museum became the Childrens Museum of Manhattan in the 1980s and moved to its current location on West 83rd Street in 1989. In 2018, the museum announced a plan to relocate to a larger space on 96th Street and Central Park West.

Whitney Museum Of American Art

Located in Manhattans Meatpacking District, the Whitney Museum of American Art displays a collection of twentieth-century and contemporary American art. One of the ways that the Whitney strives to make their collection more accessible to children is through their kids guides. Available in English and Spanish, the guides contain descriptions of artworks that could be interesting to children. They share information about the art and invite visitors, especially children, to imagine themselves as an artist by thinking about questions and even giving them the opportunity to create artwork of their own.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or the tenth, the views from the terraces as well as from the picturesque widows within the museum are pure wow!
Additionally, the Whitney has an ongoing program called Open Studio for kids. Families and kids have the opportunity to create their own works inspired by whats on view in the museum.
Tip: Cris Scorza, head of education at the Whitney, says families should bring a snack, maybe a pack of colored pencils and a notepad and, most importantly, an open mind when visiting as a family.

The Bronx Museum Of The Arts

The Bronx Museum of the Arts collection includes over two thousand works of art. The upcoming exhibition, Swagger and Tenderness: The South Bronx Portraits by John Aheam and Rigoberto Torres, is sure to be a great experience for the whole family. It will include tables with intergenerational games, like skelzies and dominoes, that invite visitors to relax and play as part of the exhibition. It will be on view from Oct. 26 through April 30.

Learners of all ages are invited to explore Muslim cultures from around the world in America to Zanzibar: Cultures Near and Far, which opened to the public on February 13, 2016, as part of the Childrens Museum of Manhattans ongoing Cultural Exhibition and Programming Series. Exploring both individuals and communities that identify as Muslim, America to Zanzibar examines the countless ways in which Muslim culture is expressed through the arts, storytelling, and everyday life in the United States and throughout the world.
Among the exhibitions many features, visitors have the opportunity to take an interactive journey through the sights and smells of a traditional marketplace, compare mosque architecture across different countries, and visit a living room where they interact with personal objects and stories from local Muslim Americans.

In addition to original artwork by emerging American Muslim artists, the exhibitions rich representations of Muslim culture are accompanied by a program series celebrating diverse expressions of identity through numerous speakers and performances. Children’s Museum Of The Arts
The Childrens Museum of the Arts is located at 103 Charlton Street, Manhattan, New York, United States in the South Village district. Founded by Kathleen Schneider in 1988, CMA opened its new, 10,000-square-foot space in October 2011.
