Only on 5. The South Florida Science Center is giving you a preview of their new dinosaur exhibit. But this one is different from their prehistoric ones of the past.

Its a very different exhibit but its very interactive, said Melinda Grenz, Marketing Director, South Florida Science Center.

The Science Center is known for bringing dinosaur exhibits around every few years. But this one is different.

Instead of those classic animatronic/life-sized dinosaurs that you cant interactive with they just look really cool. We decided to switch it up and bring in this giant interactive maze, said Grenz.

A maze with questions, that if you answer wrong you hit a dead end.

CABAZON DINOSAURS

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Prepare your paleontology gear! Thursday morning WPTV NewsChannel 5 got a sneak peek at the new dinosaur exhibit opening today at the Cox Science Center.

Dinosaur Explorer, it actually takes us through time. And we explore all the dinosaurs obviously, but it actually compares it to humans. So we can see how our body temperature is compared to theirs. We can actually explore their brains compared to ours. We can see what it would be like to walk with a dinosaur. And theres a lot of virtual elements to this, said Chris Ortiz who is the assistant director of education and STEAM at the Cox Science Center and Aquarium.

There are dynamic animatronic displays and several kid-friendly activities.

You get to design your own dinosaur, which is really awesome. You get to see it interact with other dinosaurs with a giant sandpit. That you can actually take and build the landscape for the dinosaurs. You can walk with the dinosaurs. So weve got a lot going on in this exhibit on I think its really awesome, Ortiz said.

The curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Palm Beach Museum of Natural History, Robert DePalma, was featured in the April 2019 issue of New Yorker Magazine. The article, The Day the Dinosaurs Died, details DePalmas research and theory into how more precisely the dinosaurs and nearly all life on Earth perished when the six-mile-wide Chicxuluban asteroid slammed into the Yucatán peninsula at forty-five thousand miles an hour over sixty-six million years ago.

The Palm Beach Museum of Natural History was formed by a group of paleontologists, archaeologists, science educators, and museum professionals dedicated to the establishment of a premier regional center for the study and public presentation of the natural history and archaeology of Florida and the Caribbean. The museum maintains active dig sites in both North and South Dakota where their field crews have been conducting excavations in the famous Hell Creek Formation each summer since 2005. Major finds have included Nanotyrannus, Cheryll the Triceratops Henry, a juvenile triceratops fossilized amber with embedded insects and many other fossil specimens that are the first of their kind found in the Hell Creek formation.
