Arrangement Of The Victims’ Names
The names of 2,983 victims are inscribed on 152 bronze parapets on the memorial pools: 2,977 killed in the September 11 attacks and six killed in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The names are arranged according to an algorithm, creating “meaningful adjacencies” based on relationshipsproximity at the time of the attacks, company or organization affiliations and in response to about 1,200 requests from family members. Software by Local Projects implemented the arrangement. All names are stylized with Optima typeface for a “balanced appearance”
The names of the employees and visitors in the North Tower , the passengers and crew of American Airlines Flight 11 , and the employees and a visitor of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing are around the perimeter of the North Pool. The names of the employees and visitors in the South Tower , the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 175 , the employees, visitors, and bystanders in the immediate vicinity of the North and South Towers, the first responders who died during rescue operations, the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 and American Airlines Flight 77 , and the employees at the Pentagon are around the perimeter of the South Pool. Company names are not included, but company employees and visitors are listed together. Passengers on the four flights are listed under their flight numbers, and first responders with their units.
Controversies Surrounding The Memorial
Mohammad Salman Hamdani
Although victims’-family groups agreed that names would be grouped by workplace or other affiliation, NYPD cadet Mohammad Salman Hamdani was not included with the other first responders or the other victims whose remains were found in the wreckage of the North Tower. His name appears on the memorial’s panel 66 for World Trade Center victims , with those who did not fit into the groups created by the memorial committee or who had a loose connection to the World Trade Center. Hamdani’s mother, Talat, has campaigned for the Memorial to acknowledge her son as a police cadet and first responder. Hamdani received a full police-department funeral after his body was found , and the street on which he lived was renamed in his honor.
Arabic-language brochures
Although the memorial’s brochures were initially translated into at least ten languages, these languages did not include Arabic. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee questioned this decision in letters to memorial directors, and ADC director of communications and advocacy Raed Jarrar said: “Our fear is that there is a political intention behind the exclusion”. A memorial representative told the New York Post, “As Arabic-speaking visitors currently represent our 25th-largest group, Arabic translations are not yet among the initial foreign-language editions.”

The National September 11 Memorial Museum is located at 180 Greenwich Street, inside the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District.

If you plan on visiting a number of attractions, getting the New York City Pass may be a good way of saving *some* money.
Unless you plan on visiting 5 attractions on the same day , you really dont end up saving that much. You also have to book entrance to all attractions separately.

Best Time To Visit 9/11 Museum
The best time to visit the 9/11 Museum is as soon as it opens at between 9 am. Till 11 am, the Museum doesnt get crowded.
Irrespective of the season or day, most tourists line up to enter the Museum between noon and 3 pm.
If you cant make it in the morning, we recommend a visit anytime after 5 pm.
If you want to avoid the crowd, one of the best ways is to buy 9/11 Museum tickets online.
You can then skip the long lines at the ticketing counter and enter the Museum right away.
Some tourists prefer to skip the Museum because it requires an entry ticket.
However, most tourists end up visiting the 9/11 Memorial.
The time you will take to tour the 11 September monument depends on what you decide to explore.

Memorial Museum Free Tickets On Tuesdays
I know we are not able to pre-purchase these tickets anymore but I see that they are offering free tickets beginning at 4pm at the 911 Memorial Museum. Has anyone gone through the process of getting these tickets by standing in line as they begin giving them to people? If so, does the line get pretty backed up? Do the tickets sell out quickly? Do people get there early to try to get those free tickets? If so, how soon do people begin lining up on those Tuesdays?

I just visited the site the other day, and you can pre-book the museum however, you don’t have to pre-book the Memorial.

As stated above, no tickets/passes are needed to visit the Memorial.
Regarding the newly opened Museum, it’s impossible to answer this question when the Museum just opened to the public on Wednesday, May 21st. This Tuesday, May 27th will be the first time that the Museum will have free admission hours available to the public. Considering that the same day tickets have been selling early in the day, I would think that you would have to line up much earlier than 4 pm to have a chance at obtaining one of the free Tuesday afternoon tickets.

As a NY’er, I see no problem with anyone taking advantage of the free ticket/time slot.

Getting Into The Museum: What To Expect
As you can imagine, security at the 9/11 Museum is strict. Once you scan your 9/11 Memorial Museum tickets, youll walk through a security checkpoint to enter the museum.
Much like an airport or sports stadium, you will be required to remove any bags, jackets, and electronics from your person before walking through metal detectors. At this point, you must also throw away any outside food or beverages as these are not allowed inside the museum.

One World Trade Center And Other Wtc Buildings
One World Trade Center, nicknamed the Freedom Tower is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere and, as of 2016, is the 6th tallest in the world.
Its no coincidence that its height is 1,776 feet.

Rented office space begins on the 20th Floor and continues to the 64th Floor.

2 World Trade Center is – after 15 years – still not complete due to many delays in design. The currently agreed upon design is a 90-story tower standing 1,270 feet tall encompassing 2.8 million square feet.
3 World Trade Center is near completion and will be 80 stories tall rising to 1,079 feet.
The completed and opened 4 World Trade Center is a light, ephemeral vision, facing directly onto the World Trade Center Memorial Plaza.
Rising 977 feet, by Maki and Associates, the 72-story tower is intended to assume a quiet but dignified presence at the site.
7 World Trade Center was completed in 2006 and was the first tower rebuilt after the attacks.
