Wirklich alles ist hier zubekommen. Der Laden ist thematisch unterteilt und verleitet den technikbegeisterten Besucher, doch etwas länger alsgeplant durch die vollgepackten Gänge zu schlendern. Allerdings war von fachmännischen Verkäufern keine Spur. Ichkonnte ein Verkaufsgespräch belauschen, bei dem ein Kunde nach der Leistungsfähigkeit einer Grafikkarte gefragt hatte.Der Verkäufer, dem Englischen nicht mächtig, begann sein Wissen vorzutragen: “this card 640*480 and 800*600 and1024*768”, woraufhin der Käufer begeistert nickte und das Schnäppchen erwarb.

Bemerkenswert sind auch die Kassen. Hier gibt es etwa 25 Stück davon, allerdings nur eine einzigeWarteschlange, die wie in einem Irrgarten durch mehrere serpentinenartige Windungen zum Kassenbereich führt. Dort hebtdann der Kassierer, der gerade frei geworden ist, die Hand und man begibt sich zu ihm. Auf die Art warten alle gleichlange und Fry’s braucht nur ein Sortiment der bekannten Nimm-Mich-Verführungsartikel vor der Kasse.

Its a hands-on experience of interest to people of all ages and backgrounds. The museum located in the capital of Silicon Valley is a non-profit learning resource established to inspire the innovator in everyone. Could that be you?

The Tech has galleries on two levels, with interactive exhibits about space exploration, biotechnology, clean energy, genetics and the science of sounds. Popular new exhibits include Cyber Detectives, and Body Metrics.

The huge IMAX Dome Theater has movies daily from companies like National Geographic. The museum also has a recurring evening series called Creative Collisions that cultivates and connects Sf Bay Area innovators with ideas. Previous events featured wearable tech, 3D printing and the idea of space and art.

A couple years ago a new four-year program was launched with The Sharks Foundation and SAP that will give low-income students and the community access to sports-themed science, technology, engineering and math.

Best Place For Imax Experience

I have only been here for movies, and it’s a great place for IMAX. The dome theater immerse you into the IMAX film – you get the feeling of being surrounded by the film. I think that is what makes watching movie at teh Tech Museum such as awesome experience – it makes the normal IMAX like watching movie at a regular theater. There is noticeable difference. The Tech Museum doesn’t have all the latest movies playing, and prices may be couple dollars more…but when you want that full, immersed experience… you can’t beat the setup. Some will find the seats not have enough leg room similar to economy class on domestic flights. Plenty of parking at garages near by and the museum does validate for discounted parking . There is also concession stand for popcorn and snacks. Seat are best towards top… at the projector level or a row above & below it.

What are The Tech Interactive’s hours?The Interactive is open Tuesday through Sunday. Our hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Interactive is open to members only every Sunday at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. We will be closed on Saturday, December 25.

Do I need to reserve tickets in advance?We recommend buying tickets in advance, especially for our IMAX films as seatings in our theater are currently limited. Advance reservations can be made online on our ticketing site: thetech.org/tickets.

How do I redeem a voucher for free admission?Please bring your voucher to the ticket counter when you arrive and we will process it into an available timed admission entry.

I have vouchers or free tickets that expired during your closure. Can I still use them once you reopen?Yes! Expiration dates on all existing free tickets have been extended through June 30th, 2022. An der Wand gleich nebenan kann man die Weiterentwicklung undMiniaturisierung der Chips verfolgen. Da konnte man früher sogar noch was mit bloßem Auge erkennen. Beeindruckend auf eine ganz besondere Art ist die Earthquake Platform. Hier wird auf einerhydraulischen Plattform analog den aufgezeichneten Daten ein historisches Erdbeben der Region simuliert. In unseremFall handelte es sich um das Beben vom 17. Oktober 1989, das “nur” eine Stärke von 6,3 hatte – heute werden hier Bebenvon 7,6 und mehr simuliert. Wenn die Maschine schon soviel Krach macht soll’s auch richtig wackeln, dachte man sichbestimmt. Wie auch immer, wir hatten uns auf die kleine Plattform gestellt, an deren Rückseite die Stockwerkanzeigeeines Aufzugs die Sekunden bis zum Beben runterzählt. Trotz dieser Vorwarnung gibt es bei 0 einen derart heftigenSchlag, dass ich fast hingefallen wäre. Ohrenbetäubendes Gerumpel der Hydraulik und heftige, ruckartige Bewegungenfordern für knapp eine Minute die volle Aufmerksamkeit des Gleichgewichtsorgans. Dann ist wieder alles ruhig. InGedanken stelle ich mir die bei diesem Beben eingesackte Bay Bridge vor. Die ersten Schritte danach sind etwasungewohnt, doch das “Woahh”-Erlebnis ist enorm. Der süffisante Hinweis “Flashing light means earthquake!” an beidenSeiten der Plattform ist allerdings aus pädagogischer Sicht eher weniger wertvoll. Die Amerikaner sind ja sehrbehindertenfreundlich, aber ich wüsste spontan keine Erkrankung, die die Wahrnehmung eines derart heftigen Bebens nurdurch optische Signale ermöglicht hätte…

Blick Ins Perfekt Ausgeleuchtete The Tech

Am späten Nachmittag fuhren wir schließlich nach San Jose, wo “The Tech” – oder wie es genauer heißt”The Tech Museum of Innovation” – auf unseren Besuch wartete. Während wir bei Fry’s den aktuellen Stand derEntwicklungen in all ihrer schillernden Vielfalt bewundern durften sollten uns hier die Meilensteine der technischenEntwicklung museal und interaktiv präsentiert werden. Etwa anderthalb Stunden Zeit hatten wir dafür, denn das Museumschloss pünktlich um 18 Uhr und wir waren spät.

Zunächst fiel unsere Aufmerksamkeit auf das IMAX-Kino im Museum, in das wir unbedingt rein wollten.Also wurden zuerst die Karten für die 17 Uhr Vorstellung gekauft, was uns vor und nach dem Film noch 30 Minuten Zeitfür das Museum übrig ließ.

Das IMAX zeigte den Film “Adventures in Wild California”, ein wilder Streifzug durch Kalifornien.Snowboarding, Skydiving, Kletteraktionen in den Sequoias und auf der Golden Gate Bridge oder rasante Windsurfszenen inden meterhohen Wellen des Pazifik – in beeindruckenden Bildern werden die Naturwunder des “Golden State” präsentiert -sehr lohnenswert und ein guter Appetizer für unsere weitere Reise.

Die Ausstellungen im The Tech sind einfach viel zu abwechslungsreich um sie hier alle aufzuzählen.Daher beschränke ich mich auf diejenigen, die mir noch in Erinnerung sind ohne mit Hilfe des Internet auch alle anderenwieder erinnert zu haben.

We enjoyed going to both the Tech Museum, which is a very good interactive science Museum. We also went to the IMAX show, which was also good to see. There is a store and cafe as well.It is in the downtown area of San Jose.

Highly recommend it for children and grown ups who are young at heart. It entertains, educates, involves and inspires.

I’ve always preferred hands-on museums over museums where you just observe things under glass and read about what you are looking at. This museum is definitely hands-on. A highlight for me was creating an animation of a camel wearing “bling” riding a skateboard upside down with one hand. 😀

It was a pleasant activity for my son. It was a bit smaller for a Tech Interactive place. Souvenir items are expensive. Not much of a selection in their store. It’s clean and the kids had so much fun. That’s what’s important.
