One World Trade Center, nicknamed the Freedom Tower is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere and, as of 2016, is the 6th tallest in the world.
Its no coincidence that its height is 1,776 feet.
That number has great significance in American history as it was the year America declared its independence from Great Britain.

Floors 1-19 is the base of the building with a 65-foot-high public lobby.
Rented office space begins on the 20th Floor and continues to the 64th Floor.
On Floor 65 is a sky lobby and then office floors resume on Floor 65 to Floor 90. Floors 9199 and 103104 are mechanical floors.
2 World Trade Center is – after 15 years – still not complete due to many delays in design. The currently agreed upon design is a 90-story tower standing 1,270 feet tall encompassing 2.8 million square feet.
3 World Trade Center is near completion and will be 80 stories tall rising to 1,079 feet.
The completed and opened 4 World Trade Center is a light, ephemeral vision, facing directly onto the World Trade Center Memorial Plaza.
Rising 977 feet, by Maki and Associates, the 72-story tower is intended to assume a quiet but dignified presence at the site.

The North Tower stood over a quarter-mile tall at 1,368 feet. Its transmission tower with broadcast antennas added about 360 feet more.
The South Tower stood over a quarter-mile tall at 1,362 feet.
Each of the Twin Towers had 110 floors.
Each towers footprint and floors were approximately an acre in size.
On windy days, each tower could sway up to almost 12 inches side to side.
There were 43,600 windows in the Twin Towers, equating to more than 600,000 square feet of glass. It took 20 days to wash them all.
There were 198 elevators in the Twin Towers and 15 miles of elevator shafts.
The Twin Towers were among the first skyscrapers to utilize a system of local and express elevators.
Each express elevator in the Twin Towers could hold up to 55 adults. When they were installed, their motors were the largest in the world.

One World Trade Center is located at 285 Fulton Street. The entrance into the building is on West Street.
Subway: The closest stop is the World Trade Center station on the E line. One World Trade Center is accessed from the Rector Street Station on Line 1, the Park Place station on Lines 2 and 3, or the Cortland Street Station on Line R.
PATH Train: From Hoboken to World Trade Center or from Newark to World Trade Center.
Taxi/Uber/Lyft: Get off at the intersection of Vesey Street and West End.

Is The 9/11 Memorial Open On 9/11
Every year, the 9/11 Memorial is closed to the public on September 11 until 3 p.m. That time is reserved for the anniversary tribute to the victims, a ceremony only open to family members.
From 3 p.m. until midnight, the memorial is reopened to the public for the Tribute in Light, which all are welcome to attend.
The Tribute in Light is a moving spectacle, shining two giant beams of blue light into the darkness. Each beam reaches up to four miles in the sky and can be seen from a 60-mile radius around Manhattan. This represents the images of the Twin Towers, part of the World Trade Center that collapsed during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Behold The Survivor Tree
Among all these trees, one stands out called the surviving tree, the only one that survived the tragedy. The employees of the recovery works at Ground Zero in New York found it a month after the attacks and although it was still alive, it was in very poor condition so it was removed to be cared for and recovered.
Years later, in 2010, the surviving tree was returned to its original location and is now a symbol of hope and resilience for all New Yorkers and even the world. It is truly wonderful to be able to contemplate it today.

Visiting The Memorial & Museum During Covid
The 9/11 Memorial officially reopened to the public on July 5, 2020, with some new limitations. Visiting hours are currently 12-7 p.m. Thursday to Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday.
Anyone visiting the memorial is required to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines, maintaining a distance of 6 feet from all other visitors and staff.
Hand sanitizer is available throughout the memorial plaza, and you should apply some after touching the parapets. And as always, if youre not feeling well, please stay home.
The museum opened on Sept. 11, 2020, for 9/11 family members only. It reopened to the public on Sept. 12, 2020. Like the memorial, hours are reduced. From Thursday to Friday, the museum is open from 12-7 p.m., and from Saturday to Monday, hours are 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the museum is closed.
Masks and social distancing are required. Theres some additional protocols for safety, too:
- All museum tickets must be purchased in advance for timed visits.
- All visitors will undergo a temperature screening before entry.
- Museum capacity will be reduced to 25% to allow for proper space between guests.

How To Get To 9/11 Museum And Memorial
The National September 11 Memorial Museum is located at 180 Greenwich Street, in the Financial District in Lower Manhattan.
There are 4 entrances to the building:
The easiest way to get there is by public transportation.
Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and A, C, J, Z will take you all the way to Lower Manhattan. You can also take trains E and R. The best stations to get off are Chambers Street Station or Fulton Street Station, Park Place, World Trade Center, Rector Street or Cortland Street Station.
You can get to the Financial District by bus from other places in Manhattan. You will likely need to take a bus that is southbound. The buses that stop nearby are the M55 the M20 and the M22 . If you are taking the M55 Northbound get off at Trinity Place and Rector Street.
Another convenient way of getting there is by hop-on hop-off bus. You can get your pass here.
FROM NEW JERSEY: If you are traveling from New Jersey, you can get to the World Trade Center Terminal by PATH Train.

Saint Paul’s Chapel Memorial
In fact, to remember those who died on 9/11, a room inside the church was dedicated to them as a memorial. Saint Paul’s Chapel is another of the places at Ground Zero in New York that I advise you to visit. Not only for its historical value but also for its emotional value to the city.
There you can see some photographs of the people who sacrificed their lives to save the lives of others and messages of support from the international community. There is also a board for those who disappeared that fateful day and you can even see the bed on which the volunteers rested during their endless days of work at Ground Zero. Undoubtedly, a visit that makes you shudder and makes you reflect a lot for the meaning it holds.
How To Get To The 9/11 Memorial & Museum
Once in the city, youll need to determine how youll get to the museum. If youre staying in the city for a few days, see which subway line is closest to the hotel. During my visit, I took the 5 train from Grand Central Terminal to the Fulton Street Station and walked the rest of the way to the museum.
While you can hail a taxi or a ride-sharing service such as Uber, itll be far more expensive than taking the subway. Using the subway is super easy and affordable!
If youre staying in Lower Manhattan, walking may be your most advantageous mode of transportation to the museum.

If you are traveling with children to New York it is a good idea to check out the cultural offerings on their official website because there is always something to do.
In addition, during the winter outside Brookfield Place there is an ice rink that is usually not as crowded as others in the city. I recommend you to visit it at Christmas if you like skating because they also organize a beautiful light show in its central square.
