The Queens Museum is another beautiful, free art museum in NYC that I highly recommend. Admission is pay-what-you-wish, and inside, youll find over 10,000 objects, many of which were created for the Worlds Fairs of 1939 and 1964.

Among the collection are paintings by Salvador Dalí, photographs by Robert Moses, and a collection of Tiffany glass. The permanent collection also includes the Panorama of the City of New York, a 9,335-square-foot model of New York Citys five boroughs. The architectural replica was built for the 1964 Worlds Fair and has undergone updates over the years to keep the model accurate.
In addition to these classic pieces, the Queens Museum also exhibits modern and contemporary work, like Black, Trans, & Alive , a mural by NYC-based artist Glori Tuitt. Moreover, the museum is in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, one of the best parks in NYC. The Smithsonian Magazines 18th annualMuseum Day is taking place on Saturday, September 17, with 10 New York City museums participating in this years celebration. As part of the special day, hundreds of museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free admission to any guest with a Museum Day ticket.
This years theme is Experience America, which encourages museum lovers to go out and experience the diverse selection 0f arts, culture, sciences, innovation, and history exhibits the country has to offer.
Museum Day goes beyond getting visitors through museum doorsit acts as a springboard to empower and help advance the hopes and ambitions of the public, particularly school-aged children and those in underrepresented communities, said in a press release as Time Out New York reported. It represents a national commitment to access, equity and inclusion.
Each Museum Day ticket provides free admission for up to two people at participating locations on September 17. You can view a full list of the nations participating cultural institutions here.
