The original attraction closed in December 2007, with the announcement of a planned expansion that would increase the square footage of the facility by 58 percent, at a cost of $25 million. Subsequently, museum representatives announced a much more ambitious expansion, at a cost of about $80 million. Wonders Of Wildlife With Young Kids
If your family enjoys nature, this is an amazing museum that displays a ton of animals, native American culture, and an impressive aquarium. We went with our four kids between the ages 3, 5, 8, and 9, and they all had a blast.
The aquarium is huge. I mean, look at the photo below and the size of my kids compared to the aquarium. It is a large enough space that doesn’t feel cramped or crowded.
This place was mind-boggingly expansive, huge, and super fun for kids. While it’s known for it’s aquarium, there is so much more. You can see beavers, penguins, white alligators, sharks, and jellyfish. The museum is 4 expansive large floors.
My young kids absolutely loved it. Sure, there’s boring museum parts, but it’s mixed in with a bunch of cool other exhibits as well.
What Else Is Going On At Wonders Of Wildlife
This accreditation news isn’t the only thing Wonders of Wildlife has going on.
Motorists may have seen construction taking place on the corner of Sunshine Street and Campbell Avenue for a digital aquarium that will soon be in operation.
“It’s still being modified and designed, but our guests know one thing, the Johnny Morris experience at WOW and Bass Pro Shops and Top of the Rock, it will be spectacular,” Daniel said.
An additional jelly exhibit is also under construction inside the shipwreck museum.
“We’re in the midst of getting that project finished up so that our guests can come in and be informed and educated and inspired by another amazing animal that we get to share,” Daniel said.
The existing space for jellies will still remain, according to Johnny Morris Foundation PR Manager Samantha Gerhart. There are several jellies in the existing exhibit, including: South American sea nettles, flame jellies and more.
Both the digital aquarium and jelly exhibit are slated to be completed this fall, Gerhart said.

The poll ranks the top 20 prominent institutions across North America, and the fourth win by the conservation-based museum and aquarium is unprecedented in the history of this prestigious national award.
