The Nighthawks of the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center

Edward Hopper House celebrates the legacy of painter, Edward Hopper, with a particular focus on his developmental years as an artist. By preserving artifacts from Hoppers family life, curating exhibitions relevant to Hoppers legacy, and welcoming community members each week to create art in this historic space, Edward Hopper House gives depth to an artist who represented life in America with honesty. Through the Nighthawks Teen Leadership Program, named after one of Hoppers most iconic paintings, the Edward Hopper House mentors teens from Rockland County middle and high schools, developing their skills to become tour guides, workshop leaders, and general ambassadors of the Museum. The Nighthawks are given the unique chance to interpret Edward Hoppers experience in Nyack as a young artist, reflecting on how his journey might connect to their own life stories. The Nighthawks not only are docents and workshop facilitators at the Edward Hopper House, but also attend trips to other cultural art organizations and participate in college prep activities, positioning them to make conscious choices as they move towards young adulthood.
