A Guide To The Perot Museum
Dinosaur fossils, a tornado simulator and a 5-foot-tall amethyst geode are only some of the treasures inside this world-class museum.
This building of stunning modern architecture, on full view from the Woodall Rodgers Freeway through Dallas, is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. That reflective slice of glass jutting up and out the side is a 54-foot escalator with a spectacular view of downtown.
Whats even more extraordinary than the buildings exterior are the interactive and imaginative features at every turn, from the motion-activated dancing water molecules connected to the ceiling, to the giant leap frogs in the outdoor science park, to the museums 11 permanent exhibit halls.
The busiest hall for young families by far will be the Moody Family Childrens Museum. It has a play place crafted from the Dallas skyline, a miniature Dallas Farmers Market complete with reusable shopping bags and a flower cart, and the Great Trinity Forest with a kid-sized campsite and displays of live insects and reptiles. Step inside the enclosed baby and toddler park for some playtime with your little ones or head outside to uncover whats buried in the Little Bend Fossil Dig.
The TI hall also houses two small but arguably the most symbolic pieces inside the museum a Nobel Prize and a Nobel Peace Prize. The donors hope the presence of the shiny gold medals will inspire the next generation of Nobel laureates and innovators, starting with the kids who walk through the lobby.

How Is The Museum Cleaned
Restrooms, high-traffic areas, and hands-on exhibits are disinfected three times a day morning, afternoon, and overnight. Custodians also survey the entire Museum throughout the day to respond immediately to needs in between scheduled cleanings. The entire Museum undergoes a thorough cleaning every night. The Moody Family Childrens Museum undergoes additional stringent disinfection each night, including the cleaning of every small component within that space. During operating hours, surfaces within the Café are cleaned and sanitized hourly with a more rigorous cleaning after-hours. Our custodial staff uses a highly effective combination of nontoxic, environmentally friendly products that are broad-spectrum virucides, bactericides, tuberculocides, fungicides, and sanitizers all in one.
To discourage the spread of germs, Museum personnel and visitors have always been encouraged to wash hands frequently. For the convenience and safety of visitors and staff, the Museum is also equipped with 19 hand sanitizer stations containing an alcohol-based formula that kills 99.99% of the most common germs that may cause illness.
