A Guide To The Perot Museum

Discover DFW: Perot Museum Of Nature And Science

Dinosaur fossils, a tornado simulator and a 5-foot-tall amethyst geode are only some of the treasures inside this world-class museum.

This building of stunning modern architecture, on full view from the Woodall Rodgers Freeway through Dallas, is the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. That reflective slice of glass jutting up and out the side is a 54-foot escalator with a spectacular view of downtown.

Whats even more extraordinary than the buildings exterior are the interactive and imaginative features at every turn, from the motion-activated dancing water molecules connected to the ceiling, to the giant leap frogs in the outdoor science park, to the museums 11 permanent exhibit halls.

The busiest hall for young families by far will be the Moody Family Childrens Museum. It has a play place crafted from the Dallas skyline, a miniature Dallas Farmers Market complete with reusable shopping bags and a flower cart, and the Great Trinity Forest with a kid-sized campsite and displays of live insects and reptiles. Step inside the enclosed baby and toddler park for some playtime with your little ones or head outside to uncover whats buried in the Little Bend Fossil Dig.

The TI hall also houses two small but arguably the most symbolic pieces inside the museum a Nobel Prize and a Nobel Peace Prize. The donors hope the presence of the shiny gold medals will inspire the next generation of Nobel laureates and innovators, starting with the kids who walk through the lobby.

Perot Museum Reopens Heres Everything You Need To Know

It holds 11 permanent exhibit halls on five floors of public space, a childrens museum, a state-of-the art traveling exhibition hall, and The Hoglund Foundation Theater.

After months of quarantine, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science can once again inspire the next generations of engineers, artists, philosophers, and scientists. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science reopens Saturday and Sunday with new public-health protocols, ticketing procedures, reduced hours and occupancy at no more than 25 percent.

We have been working tirelessly to reopen, and our staff members are excited to get back to our educational mission of inspiring minds through nature and science, said Dr. Linda Silver, Eugene McDermott Chief Executive Officer in a press release. And while some areas and activities are temporarily closed, rest assured our five-level 180,000-square-foot museum offers plenty of discoveries around every corner.

New operation hours will run from Fridays to Sundays every week for the foreseeable future, beginning on Sept. 18.
