If You Didnt Know There Was A Massive Life Sized Noahs Ark In Kentucky Now You Do

The replica is based on the depiction of Noahs Ark and stands as an interactive life-sized model of what would have been the real thing.

One of the most famous stories in the Bible is that of the Flood and of Noahs Ark. The story of only Noah and his family along with two of every animal species in the world being saved on an ark while the rest of the world was inundated has long been a favorite of Sunday School. It just so happens that in the story, the dimensions of the ark are given along with some basic descriptions.

It has therefore been possible to recreate the ark in real life as described in the Bible. Currently, there are three full-sized replicas of Noahs Ark around the world one in Hong Kong, one in the Netherlands, and one in Kentucky.

God Brings A Flood On The World

God shut the Arks door and unleashed the Flood upon the earth. The waters rose until they covered the highest mountains of the pre-Flood world. All of the people and land-dwelling, air-breathing animals that werent aboard Noahs Ark died. Thats why we find so many fossils all over the world today.

Creation Museum Founder Builds $91 Million Model Of Noahs Ark In Kentucky

The full-size replica measures 510 feet long.

A controversial recreation of Noahs ark is set to open next month in Kentucky, and it has state approval, despite concerns over separation of church and state.

Ark Encounter is a full-size replica of the Biblical vessel. Slated to open in Williamstown, Kentucky, on July 7, the ark could become a major tourist attraction.

Its the work of Ken Ham, avowed evolution-denier and president of the Creationist Christian organization Answers in Genesis , which describes its mission as upholding the authority of the Bible from the first verse. Ark Encounter is an extension of Hams Creation Museum, in nearby Petersburg, Kentucky, which AiG opened in 2007.

The ark measures 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, based on the dimensions given in the book of Genesis. The $91 million project will feature animatronic animals, including dinosaurswhich Ham believes coexisted with humans.

A local FOX affiliate has dubbed Ark Encounter an evangelical Disney World of sorts and reports that employees must sign a statement of faith that rejects homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and premarital sex, and affirms their belief in the book of Genesis and in Jesus.

What Did The Ark Look Like

Eyewitness Accounts

In 1904 and 1906 a ten-year-old Armenian boy named George Hagopian was taken up Mt. Ararat by his uncle during warmer-then-usual summers. He climbed upon the Ark after being lifted up to the rear step extension. Many years later in America he described the barge-like shape, the planks of the deck, the window opening system across the top, and the absence of nails in the construction.

In 1943 American Army Intelligence engineer Ed Davis was taken to the Ark site by Abas Abas, whose family functioned as custodians of the sacred vessel. In the home he was shown a metal hammer, some cage grates, and a baffled jar from the site.

Biblical Account

Make thee and ark of gopher wood rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. Genesis 6: 1416)

Rooms were mandated as a vital component of the basic structure, described as functioning with the gopher wood and the pitch. This essentially means that the rooms were jointed and interlaminated with the hull – and the entire structure of the vessel.

One of the best parts? When we arrived to our Airbnb, his grandparents were there waiting for us!

The kids were so excited that we could hardly get them calmed down to go to bed, but we finally made it happen! ha!

After they were tucked in tight, I decorated the dining room table with all of Isaacs favorite Noahs Ark books at this point, he still had no idea why we were in Kentucky and what we were going to be doing there!

The kids woke up to all things Noahs Ark and news of where we were headed that day

and we were off! Upon arriving to the ARK Encounter, we parked in their parking lot and then boarded a bus to be shuttled over to the main attraction. Having the stroller with us gave us preferred boarding and we were really happy with how smoothly this went. I always feel a little anxious about how the transportation piece of things is going to work for us, and I was pleasantly surprised.

The ark was breathtaking Im not sure I even have the words to describe how huge it seemed especially to my kiddos!

Comfy shoes were a must as there are three floors of things to see! We spent extra time in the areas of the boat that were most interesting to our kiddos they especially loved learning about the animals and seeing the models

but this room was probably my favorite!

A commitment to truth was evident at every turn,

and I was so encouraged to know that this attraction is consistent in pointing tourists to the God of the Bible and the truth of the Gospel.

How Big Is The Ark

Youve probably seen pictures of Noahs Ark in childrens books, complete with giraffe heads sticking out the top. But the real Noahs Ark, the one described in the Bible, was huge. At 510 feet long, 51 feet high, and 85 feet wide, this modern Ark shows that Noahs Ark was no dinghy. It spans over 1.5 times the length of an American football field. It was wholly seaworthya ship that kept the occupants safe during a yearlong, worldwide flood.

Recreating this massive ship at Ark Encounter has been an engineering feat. While the Ark is a full-scale model, it was originally designed as a ship but constructed like a building to meet structural codes and requirements. The enormous logs were either standing dead timbers or timber harvested from renewable forests. In board feet , there is enough timber in the Ark construction to go from Williamstown, Kentucky, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its roof is long enough for NASA to park three space shuttles nose to tail on it!

In light of this development, Congress thought that it would be unadvisable to admit Kentucky into the Union, as it could do so under the Articles of Confederation only, but not under the Constitution, and so declined to take action.

On December 18, 1789, Virginia again gave its consent to Kentucky statehood. The gave its approval on February 4, 1791. Kentucky officially became the fifteenth state in the Union on June 1, 1792. , a military veteran from Virginia, was elected its first Governor.

Visiting The Ark And Creationist Museum

In the same way as visiting the cathedrals of Europe is stunning, visiting this massive replica is also amazing. The ark boasts some 132 bays with each being around 18 feet high and are arranged into three decks. Visitors who enter the ark start on the lowest deck and then more up through the deck’s on-ramps.

On the second deck are animal models along with a model of Noah’s workshop and a blacksmith. There is much more than just an ark replica here, there is a full creationist museum. Some of the more unusual exhibits depict the “sinful world” before the Flood and feature a priest sacrificing an infant to a snake god and a people fighting dinosaur and a giant human in a gladiatorial arena. The museum depicts the stories told in the Bible from the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve through to the Flood with Noah’s Ark.

Noahs Ark Park Will Raise Funds For New Tower Of Babel

Ark Encounter & Creation Museum offering free admission for kids 10 and under

WILLIAMSTOWN, Ky. A Bible-themed attraction in Kentucky that features a 510-foot-long wooden Noahs ark is planning to begin fundraising for an expansion.

The Ark Encounter said Wednesday that it would take about three years to research, plan and build a Tower of Babel attraction on the parks grounds in northern Kentucky.

A release from the Ark Encounter park said the new attraction will tackle the racism issue by helping visitors understand how genetics research and the Bible confirm the origin of all people groups around the world. No other details were given on the Babel attraction or what it might look like.

Answers in Genesis, the ministry behind the ark, raised private funds to construct and open the massive wooden attraction in 2016. The group preaches a strict interpretation of the Earths creation in the Bible. The group also founded The Creation Museum, which asserts that dinosaurs walked the earth just a few thousand years ago, millions of years after scientists say they went extinct. That facility is just south of Cincinnati in Boone County, Kentucky.

The Ark Encounters expansion plans also include an indoor model of what Jerusalem may have looked like in the time of Christ.

The Ark Encounter said attendance is picking up after the pandemic lull in 2020, with up to 7,000 visitors on Saturdays, according to the news release.

The Loss Of Confidence In Historicity

The first edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica from 1771 describes the Ark as factual. It also attempts to explain how the Ark could house all living animal types: Buteo and Kircher have proved geometrically, that, taking the common cubit as a foot and a half, the ark was abundantly sufficient for all the animals supposed to be lodged in it the number of species of animals will be found much less than is generally imagined, not amounting to a hundred species of quadrupeds. It also endorses a supernatural explanation for the flood, stating that many attempts have been made to account for the deluge by means of natural causes: but these attempts have only tended to discredit philosophy, and to render their authors ridiculous.

The 1860 edition attempts to solve the problem of the Ark being unable to house all animal types by suggesting a local flood, which is described in the 1910 edition as part of a gradual surrender of attempts to square scientific facts with a literal interpretation of the Bible that resulted in the higher criticism and the rise of the modern scientific views as to the origin of species leading to scientific comparative mythology as the frame in which Noahs Ark was interpreted by 1875.
