San Francisco ‘museum Of Ice Cream’ Set To Open

SAN FRANCISCO After popular runs in New York and Los Angeles, the “Museum of Ice Cream” has become San Francisco’s hottest ticket.

The sweetest, eye-popping, mouthwatering exhibit, which opens on September 17th, is ready to leave visitors with a fabulous sugar high.

The Museum of Ice Cream isn’t a traditional museum at all. It’s an interactive, pop-up, massive art installation.

Room after room, visitors will discover galleries of giant push pops and candies, pathways made out of glitter, and walls stashed with candy. The pink, sugary overload and dreamy spaces are Instagram friendly.

You can also try the real thing, with special flavors such as “unicorn milk” and cookies and cream mochi ice cream.

Following wildly popular, sold out runs in New York City and Los Angeles, co-founder Manish Vora decided to take his vision and love for ice cream to the Bay Area.

“I think you’ve nailed the description of really taking yourself out of your normal city life and being a kid again,” Vora said.

San Francisco is the largest of the three pop-ups, located inside an iconic old bank on Grant Avenue.

Tickets for the exhibit are currently on sale on their website and are not available at the door.

The Museum of Ice Cream is set to run until February.

Museum Of Ice Cream In San Francisco

Disclosure: Tickets were provided free of charge all opinions are my own.

The Museum of Ice Cream has become an incredibly popular tourist attraction in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. Known for its photo areas set up for Instagram shots, I was a little wary that it would not be my cup of tea but actually enjoyed myself immensely. Amie and I got a chance to go for their Pinkmas Christmas event . We had a blast interacting with all the staff who were singing and having a good time as well as being goofy in the different photo areas they have set up around the experience. Here is all the information.

Details

  • Cost and hours on their site
  • Book your tickets in advance as it sells out.
  • This review is for the SF location, but there is a Los Angeles one as well.

Getting There

The museum is located a couple of blocks from Union Square in San Francisco. It is easy to access by the cable cars or via the BART if you are coming into the city. When you get to the old bank building, you will wait in line and be ushered in at the time that corresponds with your ticket.

The Museum

The entire museum is a curated experience where you are led by staff through different areas. When you leave one area, you cant come back, so be sure to get all of the photos you need before you move on.

From there, you head downstairs to get more ice cream and go through a small forested area.

DID SOMEONE SAY ICE CREAM?!

What sweeter way to spend a Thursday evening, than at a Museum all about my favorite food ICE CREAM!

The Museum of Ice Cream has become a social media sensation. Unless you live under a rock, youve probably seen millions of pictures posted everywhere of the colorful museum. Having such huge success in New York and Los Angeles, the museum finally made it to San Francisco .

Considering myself quite the ice cream connoisseur and wanting to see what the hype was all about. Myself and a bunch of my friends were able to score tickets. Note, these tickets sell out within hours of being released. Luckily, if you were unable to snag tickets during the first round, the dates are constantly being extended and more tickets are becoming available for both locations in SF and LA.

The San Francisco location is housed within an old bank right in the heart of downtown and is filled with lots of colorful and interactive rooms. Though I love the concept and had fun with friends, I was disappointed as I had higher hopes for a museum, rather than rooms to take Instagram pictures in. Being a city with so much history and a ton of great creamerys to boast, I was hoping more of that would have been incorporated. Though thats just my opinion, youll just have to check it out for yourself.

Sfs Museum Of Ice Cream Has Officially Closed

Museum Of Ice Cream In San Francisco

Thanks to Broke Ass Stuart for letting us know that the Museum of Ice Cream has officially closed up shop in San Francisco and is moving on to Austin in August like so many others as part of the Bay Area Exodus.

The selfie-museum with their eye-popping $38 tickets first arrived in San Francisco in 2017 and shuttered at the beginning of the pandemic but never reopened.

According to the SF Business Times, representatives didnt confirm the permanent closure until last week when the signage finally came down and the SF address was removed from their homepage.

Although the MOIC may be gone from San Francisco, its not forgotten. Were still finding sprinkles from their pool in places we didnt know we had places.

The Museum now is open in three cities, New York, Austin and Singapore.

The Museum Of Ice Cream Will Be In Sf All Summer Here’s How To Get Tickets

The popular and extremely photogenic Museum of Ice Cream announced it will be staying in San Francisco through the summer.

Because nothing says summer like ice cream, right?

A new batch of tickets is going on sale Wednesday at 11 a.m., as the exhibit announces it’ll stick around through Sept. 3.

If you haven’t heard of the museum, you’ve probably seen the pictures show up in your social media feeds. The exhibit is less of an educational museum and more of an Instagram backdrop, with its bubblegum-pink walls, oversized gummy bears and massive sprinkle pool with a few facts about ice cream thrown in.

Sf’s Museum Of Ice Cream Is Dunzo

One of SF’s first big Instagram-trap “museums,” the Museum of Ice Cream, has scooped its last scoop and swept up its last plastic sprinkle.

The interactive attraction, best known for its sprinkle pool, closed its SF location at the start of the pandemic and never reopened, and its New York-based owners confirmed the closure via where else? Instagram late last week. The SF Business Times first reported the news, noting that signage on the Savings Union Bank building at 1 Grant Street came down in the last week.

Like some other Instagram traps and “selfie factories” before and after it, the MOIC was relatively popular and light on substance. The New York museum lives on, and the creators recently announced upcoming iterations in Austin and Singapore.

The MOIC opened in San Francisco in 2017 to a fair bit of fanfare, about a year after its ridiculously popular New York debut. The first batch of tickets for the SF iteration sold out in less than 90 minutes. In the spring of 2019, the SF museum did a sort of relaunch with something they called the “Sprinkle Spectacular,” adding some sort of theatrical element to the experience.

The SF museum had hoped to get a license to sell beer and wine, and wanted to host a complementary bar at the end of tours called the “Dive-In” presumably adjacent to the sprinkle pool. But the SF Board of Supervisors denied that bid after two attempts.

The Chronicle’s John King has posted an appropriately withering mini-obit for the place.

San Francisco Museum Of Ice Cream

Inside the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco

On Monday, I finally got to experience my most-awaited adventure in San Francisco a visit to the Museum of Ice Cream. I purchased our tickets almost two months in advance because they sell out quick!

Those of you who know me already know this, but I absolutely love ice cream! Its my top favorite food and I have been known to go through phases where I eat pints of ice cream for meals . I would eat ice cream every day for every meal if I could, but thats not sustainable or healthy , so thats out.

SO THE DAY HAS COME. I get to visit the Museum of Ice Cream, which is a interactive art exhibit with ice cream, candy, and other treats offered for tasting throughout. The museum first opened as a pop-up art exhibition in Manhattan in 2016. Since then, it has opened a temporary pop-up exhibition in Los Angeles and Miami, as well as another in San Francisco that became a permanent exhibition in September 2017.

Its all about fun, and feeling like a kid again. Everyone loves ice cream. Its a way to bring people together.

Maryellis Bunn, Co-Founder

Nothing could have prepared me for the awesomeness that we encountered after stepping inside the building. I would guess that 95% of the walls, floors, and ceilings were pink and I. Was. Obsessed. On top of that, we kicked off the experience with a trip down a pink slide and then were given a pink ice cream sandwich. Anyone would agree that this museum is truly my heaven on earth.
