The Investigations Into Tyson Have Left The Women Involved With More Questions Than Answers
The American Museum of Natural History, where Tyson has directed the planetarium since 1996, began its investigation when Amet, Watson, and the two other women came forward. One, physics and astronomy professor Katelyn Allers, says that Tyson tried to look at her tattoo under her dress and touched her in a way that made her uncomfortable at a party after a 2009 meeting of the American Astronomical Society. Another, who has remained anonymous, told BuzzFeed News that Tyson had propositioned her at a 2010 party for museum employees.
In , Tyson responded that he never intended to make Allers feel uncomfortable, and that his behavior toward Watson was meant to be friendly, nothing more. He has not responded publicly to the anonymous womans allegation, or responded to Voxs request for comment.
Amet, meanwhile, says that during a visit to Tysons apartment when the two were astronomy graduate students, Tyson offered her a drink of water. The next thing she knew, he was performing oral sex on her, she said. Then he climbed on top of her and began penetrating her, she said, before she passed out again.
In his Facebook post, Tyson says the incident never happened.
The museum has not responded to Voxs request for comment. The announcement of the closure of its investigation comes several months after Fox and National Geographic, the networks that host Tysons shows StarTalk and Cosmos, concluded their own separate investigations.

Tyson graduated from the exclusive Bronx High School of Science in 1976. Carl Sagan was so impressed with his work that he asked him to attend Cornell University where Sagan was a professor. Instead, Tyson chose to go to Harvard. There, he earned a bachelors degree in physics in 1980.

Born in New York City on October 5, 1958, Tyson discovered his love for the stars at an early age. When he was nine, he took a trip to the Hayden Planetarium at the Museum of Natural History where he got his first taste of star-gazing. Tyson later took classes at the Planetarium and got his own telescope. As a teenager, he would watch the skies from the roof of his apartment building.
An excellent student, Tyson graduated from the Bronx High School of Science in 1976. He then earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Harvard University and a doctorate in astrophysics from Columbia University in 1991. After spending a few years doing post-doctorate work at Princeton University, Tyson landed a job at the Hayden Planetarium.

Host Of ‘nova Sciencenow’
In addition to his work at the planetarium, Tyson has found other ways of improving the nation’s scientific literacy. “One of my goals is to bring the universe down to Earth in a way that further excites the audience to want more,” he once said. Tyson has taken his message to the airwaves, serving as the host of documentary series from 2006 to 2011. In addition to breaking down barriers between scientists and the general public, Tyson has brought diversity to astrophysics. He is one of the few African Americans in his field.

A museum spokesman said in a statement Thursday that based on the results of the investigation, Tyson remains an employee and director of the Hayden Planetarium.
The statement said museum officials would not comment further because this is a confidential personnel matter.
Tyson was accused of behaving inappropriately with two women in an article published in November on the website Patheos.
Fox Broadcasting and National Geographic cleared Tyson to return to the air on his television series, StarTalk and Cosmos after investigating the same allegations.
A representative for Tyson did not respond to an email seeking comment Saturday.

He told a story about being interviewed about a plasma burst from the sun on a local Fox affiliate in 1989. “I’d never before in my life seen an interview with a black person on television for expertise that had nothing to do with being black. And at that point, I realized that one of the last stereotypes that prevailed among people who carry stereotypes is that, sort of, black people are somehow dumb. I wondered, maybe … that’s a way to undermine this sort of, this stereotype that prevailed about who’s smart and who’s dumb. I said to myself, ‘I just have to be visible, or others like me, in that situation.’ That would have a greater force on society than anything else I could imagine.”

Neil deGrasse Tyson, the internet’s resident mansplaining science troll, has yet again graced this world with an idiotic take. Coming in hot out of absolutely nowhere for no discernible reason, as is his wont, he’s decided to go after Arrival, Denis Villeneuve’s staggeringly good 2016 sci-fi movie. The film’s unforgivable offense? Failing to sufficiently address the fact that when an alien writes on two-sided glass with weird alien ink, the image it draws might be backwards, or something.
It would be one thing if Neil deGrasse Tyson had a point, however unhelpful and inane that point may be. But he does not. For starters, the movie does actually address this, in the form of a Jeremy Renner voiceover. But more importantly:

The museums investigation into allegations concerning Neil deGrasse Tyson is complete, a museum spokeswoman said in a brief statement. Based on the results of the investigation, Dr. Tyson remains an employee and director of the Hayden Planetarium. Because this is a confidential personnel matter, there will be no further statements by the museum.
Dr. Tyson was accused of behaving inappropriately with two women in an article published in November on the website Patheos.
In one instance, Katelyn N. Allers, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, said she met Dr. Tyson in 2009 at a party after a gathering of the American Astronomical Society. He was examining her tattoo of the solar system, which stretches along her arm to her collarbone, and she said he followed the tattoo with his hand, putting it into her dress. He said he was looking for Pluto, she said.
Dr. Tyson responded to the allegations in a long , in which he denied the rape and described the first two incidents as benign.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, mesmerized a Texas Hall crowd of more than 2,000 Tuesday night with his presentation on The Cosmic Perspective: How the astrophysicists view life, the universe and everything.
Unloading his pockets on the lectern and shedding his boots, Tyson began by saying he wanted to get comfortable so he could talk about the universe for a while. Tyson also is host of the PBS educational television show “NOVA scienceNOW and a frequent guest on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Fox, which owns National Geographic, shelved the shows while it probed the allegations, according to Variety. In March, the network said it had completed that investigation and was committed to finding an air date for “Cosmos, Variety reported.
StarTalk was set to return in April, according to the site.
Tyson did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday.
last year, Tyson apologized to one of the accusers, a professor of physics and astronomy who had described his behavior as creepy and disrespectful of female bodily autonomy.
Tyson also acknowledged a 2018 encounter with a former production assistant who accused him of unwanted advances, saying he apologized profusely to her at the time.
The production assistant quit her job after the incident, according to Patheos.

Tyson eventually became the director of the Hayden Planetarium and worked on an extensive renovation of the facility, assisting with its design and helping raise the necessary funds. The $210 million project was completed in 2000, and the revamped site offered visitors a cutting-edge look at astronomy. One of Tyson’s most controversial decisions at the time was the removal of Pluto from the display of planets. He classified Pluto as a dwarf planet, which invoked a strong response from some visitors. While some asked for the planet Pluto back, the International Astronomical Union followed Tyson’s lead in 2006. The organization officially labeled Pluto as a dwarf planet.
