In this amazing exhibition, designed by BODY WORLDS creative and conceptual designer, Dr. Angelina Whalley, visitors follow the human body through the span of time and learn about the latest findings in anatomy, longevity and health.
More than one hundred preserved human specimens reveal the wonders of human development and demonstrate how poor health, good health, and lifestyle choices can shape your body.
Whole-body plastinates, created from people who have donated their bodies for Plastination, the advanced scientific technique invented by pioneering anatomist Dr. Gunther von Hagens, with the express purpose of educating future generations about health, teach us the story of our lives like no textbook can.
All human specimens presented are preserved through Plastination, an advanced scientific technique invented by pioneering anatomist Dr. Gunther von Hagens which allows specimens to be preserved indefinitely for educational purposes in teaching institutions as well as exhibitions.
This exhibit provides a truly unique opportunity to look within yourself and gain a whole new perspective on what it means to be alive.
Body Worlds is a travelling exhibit that has visited Boston’s Museum of Science a number of times, as well as stand alone exhibits near the Faneuil Hall area.
Many high school groups in the Boston area got the opportunity to visit the exhibit on field trips for science and anatomy class support.

REAL BODIES at Bally’s allows you to get a closer look at what’s inside of you. This is an exploration of not just anatomy but of humanity. The importance of the air we breathe. The importance of love. From going back in time to an anatomist’s study and learning about the ancient Egyptians, and ancient Greeks and people like Leonardo da Vinci, and Vesalius who went against the norm and dissected these specimens of human bodies to understand more about it, to modern-day technology. It’s a chance for you to come and see what’s inside your body but also how other people perceive what’s inside their bodies. You’ll be able to look inside, understand the physiology, the anatomy, and also how other cultures deal with life and deal with death. You’ll have the opportunity to see these amazing preserved specimens but also look at historical, emotional, and cultural aspects behind who we are as human beings. It’s a beautiful exploration of the human body.

CHICAGO YOU! The Experience, a dramatic and unprecedented 15,000-square-foot exhibit, is a celebration of the body, mind and spirit that explores our personal health and well-being. The exhibit showcases the extraordinary workings of our bodies, the choices we make, the environment in which we live, and the role of medical technology. It opened in October 2009 as a permanent experience at the Museum of Science and Industry, in Abbott Hall.
This exhibit is unique because it is real and personal, said David Mosena, president and CEO of the Museum of Science and Industry. It doesnt just delve into human anatomy and stop there it speaks to the total human experience who we are as human beings and how we can empower ourselves to take better care of our minds and bodies. Whether trying out a few moves in virtual basketball, or playing Mindball, a game in which the more relaxed player wins, guests will see themselves and their health choices in new, fun and provocative ways. In addition, the exhibit brings together cutting-edge technologies never before seen in a Museum setting, an impressive array of authentic human specimens, and personal stories from real people from around the country. Guests will learn how people overcome physical challenges to stay active, have discovered the keys to longevity, manage a typical days dietand more.

General admission for Bodies the Exhibition is $32 for adults, although prices for exhibition tickets are subject to change at any time. Tickets for children, seniors, and locals with a valid ID are offered at a discounted rate.
Theres also a combo ticket option at the box office for visitors who want to see Bodies the Exhibition and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit. Both exhibits are located at the Luxor Hotel, which is a part of MGM Resorts. Combo tickets are a great deal if youre interested in attending both experiences.

Is Bodies The Exhibition Suitable For All Ages
Bodies the Exhibition is like part anatomy lab, part artifact exhibition, and part journey through the different stages of life. This exhibition is beautifully displayed, giving visitors of all ages the chance to learn fascinating facts and view meticulously dissected specimens of the human body.
It is suitable for all ages, but you know yourself and your family better than anyone. If someone in your group is a little squeamish, its not a bad idea to look online at some detailed images to make sure nothing seems too scary or unpleasant, especially for really young children.
Its really important here to drive home the point that each of the 13 whole-body specimens and hundreds of organs on display has undergone an innovative process of polymer preservation. The result is truly artistic and very respectful to the real bodies on display.

Fixation & Anatomical Dissection
The first step of Plastination is fixation. Formaldehyde or other preservation solutions are pumped through the arteries to kill all bacteria and to prevent the decomposition of the tissues. This process takes about 3-4 hours.
After that dissection starts. Skin, fatty and connective tissues are removed in order to prepare the individual anatomical structures and elements. According to the complexity of specimens, dissection can take between 500 to 1,000 hours of labor.
How The Specimens Are Preserved:
Each of the specimens featured in REAL BODIES has been carefully and respectfully preserved by a team of experts using a scientific method known as polymer preservation, or plastination. This revolutionary process uses liquid silicon rubber to prevent the natural process of decaying, and follows several steps:
- The specimen is dissected to feature specific systems and anatomical structures.
- The dissection is immersed in acetone to extract all bodily fluids.
- After dehydration, the specimen is placed in a silicone polymer bath and sealed within a vacuum chamber.
- Under vacuum, the acetone is displaced by the polymer, which then penetrates the specimen to the deepest cellular level.
- When the silicone polymer hardens, the permanently preserved specimen, structures intact, is ready for examination and study.

Los Angeles, Calif. May 3, 2017 The California Science Center introduced Gunther von Hagens BODY WORLDS exhibition of real human bodies to the Americas in 2004, drawing a record setting attendance of nearly one million guests. In response to popular demand, the Science Center is proud to welcome Dr. von Hagens BODY WORLDS: Pulse, opening May 20, 2017. The largest BODY WORLDS exhibition of the decade, Pulse will bring together anatomy and the latest health and wellness findings in a visually compelling and highly entertaining and informative exhibition.
BODY WORLDS: Pulse provides an opportunity to learn about human anatomy, physiology and health through a specially curated exhibition focused on our bodies in modern day life. More than 200 plastinated specimens including whole bodies, body configurations, translucent slices, and organs, as well as 3D displays are curated and presented in galleries that feature the various systems of the body.
This generation of plastinates includes an obese body slice, a smokers black lung and hardened arteries that show the impact of ill health. In contrast, dancers, sports figures, and a woman bearing life illustrate how bodies function when lifestyles support good health and well-being.

The Childrens Museum Of Wilmington Announces New Exhibit Bodies In Motion
This exhibit was created to help educate children about human physiology as they learn through interactive and self-guided play.
WILMINGTON, NC The Childrens Museum of Wilmington is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its newest exhibit Bodies in Motion, located in the Science Center.
Bodies in Motion is sponsored by Delaney Radiology.
Museum guests are invited to the official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, July 8th at 10:30 a.m. following our Feature Friday program.
This exhibit was created to help educate children about human physiology as they learn through interactive and self-guided play.
Little learners will gain a better understanding of what is inside the human body as it is replicated on a screen.
Children will have the ability to switch the view between the skeletal and muscular systems to gain a better understanding of the concept of an x-ray.
Executive Director Heather Sellgren states, A lot of what we do at the Museum is provide children with experiences that help them make sense of the world around them and this exhibit is a perfect example. Bodies in Motion will help young minds comprehend the purpose of an x-ray and to better understand what is inside their own body. The Body Worlds Exhibit
In 2006, The Science Museum of Minnesota hosted the world-renowned exhibit, Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS, to offer visitors an unprecedented opportunity to learn about anatomy, physiology, and health by viewing real human bodies that have been preserved through a remarkable process called plastination, invented by the anatomist Dr. von Hagens in 1977.

More than 200 real human specimens whole body plastinates, individual organs, transparent body slices and healthy and diseased organs present a one-of-a-kind anatomy and physiology lesson through BODY WORLDS, an intimate look at the human body.
Plastination technology allows authentic specimens to be displayed in a lifelike fashion for instruction and education, giving you an opportunity to appreciate what it really means to be human.

Preservation Of The Bodies And Organs
The bodies are prevented from decay by means of plastination, a rubberization process patented in the 1970s by anatomist Gunther von Hagens. The essence of the process is the replacement of water and fatty material in the cells of the body first by acetone and then by plastics, such as silicone rubber, polyester or epoxy resin.
Concerns have been raised about the provenance of the bodies and the ethics of viewing human remains , for children. In an editorial, Lutheran Reverend Christoph Reiners questioned the effect on the values of children. Prior to the 2005 U.S. premiere, the Florida Attorney General expressed the opinion that the State Anatomical Board’s approval should be required. The Board fought the Tampa exhibit, with its director expressing the opinion that the exhibit should be shut down. Premier Exhibitions officials disagreed, claiming that the Board had jurisdiction only over medical schools and not museums the exhibit opened two days ahead of schedule at the Tampa Museum of Science and Industry.

BOSTON, MA On June 16, 2019, the Museum of Science, Boston will host the Northeast debut of Gunther von HagensBODY WORLDS & The Cycle of Life, a new presentation of the groundbreaking anatomical exhibition series BODY WORLDS that has been seen by more than 47 million people globally. The 10,000-square-foot exhibit, designed by BODY WORLDS creative and conceptual designer Dr. Angelina Whalley, focuses on the human life cycle, capturing the body at every stage at its most healthy, as it changes, grows, matures, and finally wanes.
The opening in June will mark the second time a BODY WORLDS exhibit has been featured at the Museum in 2006, BODY WORLDS 2: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies became the Museums most popular exhibit in twenty years during its four-month run. The BODY WORLDS series was originally conceived to educate the public about the inner workings of the human body and to reveal the long-term effects of both healthy and unhealthy lifestyles.
