Leonardo’s Children’s Museum & Adventure Quest

Leonardos Childrens Museum & Adventure Quest (2021)

Have an adventure at Leonardos Childrens Museum. Recently renovated, the museum offers two huge floors filled with hands-on exhibits. On the main level, the ever-popular tinkering area lets imagination and creation run wild. Use real tools to make a unique souvenir and then head to the Critter Area and meet one of the friendly critters.

Upstairs you can visit the little community complete with a grocery store, dentist office, hospital area and a farm. If you are brave enough, lay on the Bed of Nails. Make an airplane and test how well it can fly or paint a masterpiece in the art studio. Leonardos is part of the Oklahoma Museum Network and features changing exhibits, so there is always something new to discover. This thrilling learning hub is a blast for the whole family.

Admission also includes entry to Adventure Quest, the largest community built play space where families can explore a three-story castle and pirate ship.

Leonardos Childrens Museum Phase I And Ii

KD+P worked with the Leonardo Childrens Museum team over a five year period. We began with an experience master plan that explored the renovation of their entire facility. From there we began the Phase One design of the lower level, incorporating an opening in the ceiling of the first floor to expand a multi-level climbing experience based on the exploration of oil, gas, wind, and solar power. Phase Two consisted of a second floor community consisting of themed environments dealing with healthy choices, nutrition, and personal wellness. All exhibits are highly interactive and engaging to visitor of all ages!

In Need Of A Little Tlc

The goal is to raise $80,000 to $90,000 to cover cost of new decking and ground cover and to re-stain and re-seal all wooden surfaces, as well as install new features, he said.

Construction of the playground was completed by volunteers in 1996, and many of the interactive learning features have worn away over the years. Wood boards on the ground level stick out in some places. A concrete map of the earth at the entrance is chipped and faded, and picnic tables by the bathrooms are missing pieces.

Its pretty obvious that theres certain things that need repair, but theyve done a pretty good job considering its 23 years old, he said.

Serenity Kirk, 4 and Alayna Salcido, 2, are introduced to a bull snake at Leonardo’s Children’s Museum in March 2019.

The grounds are safe, but Adventure Quest isnt what it was and not what it could be. It isnt up to snuff with the rest of the museum, he said.

According to Leonardos, its the worlds largest community built playground.

Its just three stories of awesomeness with a really twirly slide on the way down, he said. Its part castle, part pirate ship and part outdoor classroom. The new features will help with the educational aspect.

One of our goals is to tie in more learning opportunities out there … but keeping in mind that kids also just love to have fun and use their imagination, he said.

The community gave a lot of time to build it, and Jantzen hopes it can give some money, too, to improve it.

Kids Love This Museum

We took our grandchildren to this museum and they loved it. To start with they have a giant outdoor playground, which is the best Ive ever seen. There are so many different areas to experience. Inside in the middle is a big climbing , sliding playground, all the kids wanted to play on. Woodworking area, dress up and play doctors and nurses, so many things tp play and explore. We loved it . My grandson and nieces and nephews love going to Leonardo’s. They see / do something different every time we go. There are exhibits for the very young as well as for the older kiddios. The admission charge is reasonable, however I have the Grandparents pass and it lets in the kids of my choosing.
