  • Amazing venue but tough communication

The Schottenstein Property Group Pavilion & The Atrium

The Pavilion is what I would call a blank canvas, ready for your design. Perfect for a grand design and incredible floral arrangements. The Pavilion is the largest space at the venue and can hold 250 to 300 guests, this is plenty of room for a live band and a dance floor! The walls are white with tall ceilings, and the floor is canvased in natural colored wood. Also, the lighting is also amazing here, which includes a full wall of windows and skylights above. The Atrium is just outside of the Pavilion. Its design has a modern feel and is a wonderful location for your cocktail hour. Some of the other important included features are, large bathrooms and coat room for 300. Three projectors to display anything you would like on the walls, and two hospitality suites. Click here to watch a tour video of the spaces.

    Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc

    Mitchell WineBrushstrokes Fine Art Inc.

Mitch Wine is the son of Harold Wine, Chairman ofWSP International Limited. Both were directors of Brushstrokes FineArt Inc.

Mitch did a remarkably good job of rebuilding the company. Under hisleadership Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc. signed a major contract with theIKEA retail chain, and they ran a “photo to painting” process throughthe Michael’s Arts and Crafts stores throughout North America, and viathe QVC TV channel.

Unfortunately they still did not have the Brushstrokes.com domain, andwe were getting traffic that should’ve been going to them.

Rather than approaching us openly and directly, our first contact camein 2004 from Grant Weltman of WSP International,“a marketing company in Birmingham Alabama”. He offered us $5000 forthe Brushstrokes.com domain, which of course we turned down. Then in2005 we were approached by Mitch Wine “of WSP International”, tryingagain to see if we were interested in selling. Through all of this there was no mention of theirconnection to Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc. Had Mitch Wine approached usopenly from the beginning and made a realistic offer a deal would’vebeen reached.

Thus began an annual attempt for Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc. to try toget the Brushstrokes.com domain. It always came around the time oftheir Christmas sales push, usually shortly after Christmas when theyreviewed their sales figures.

    What Ever Happened To Brushstrokes

    Brushstrokes®

Because of some confusion over domain names, and trademarks that havebeen legally registered in different countries, we receive a lot ofwebsite traffic and communications from people that are not intended forus. We do our best to respond out of courtesy, but at the end of the daythis is not something that we make any money out of.

As you will read below, we have been open to resolving this confusionmany times, but the other parties involved have either handled thesituation badly, or simply not been serious about getting it resolved, ultimately contributing to their own failure.

    The Wedding

Words cannot even describe how awesome this Columbus Museum of Art wedding day was. Keri and Alex are such a great couple and are so super in love. Throughout the entire wedding day, there were so many emotional moments capturing the genuine love between them. At their first touch, they privately read their vows to each other which is the moment I know they will never forget and we will never forget either. These are the moments we think to ourselves, This is why we love our job. From getting ready early in the morning, all the way to dancing crazy on the dance floor, the day was perfect.

The sense of family and friendship was just out-of-this-world! There was just so much excitement for Keri and Alex from all of their guests. The dance floor never stopped moving. The DJ literally had to say This is the last song. The reception is officially over, and there were still a hundred people out on the dance floor. No matter what song came on there was never a dull moment.

A special note to Keri & Alex

Thank you for trusting us to be your wedding photographers. We cannot wait for you to get your wedding album. We know your wedding photos mean so much to you and know it is extremely important to both of you to cherish and preserve them forever. This will be a day both of us will never forget. The Blackburn Group Inc Invests In Atelier America Inc

To finance this dramatic change the Blackburn Group Inc. of London,Ontario, Canada invested heavily in Atelier America Inc.

They paid Iguana Studios, New York, one million dollars todevelop a website for Brushstrokes. However they had one significantproblem – they didn’t own the Brushstrokes.com domain.

The first that we knew about any of this was inNovember 1999 when we received an e-mail from William Goldsteinrepresenting a “Canadian art company” interested in buying the rightsto the domain.

Unfortunately they embarked on a lot of deception in the early stagesof negotiation, which of course eroded away any trust. After negotiatingwith them over a four month period we were not able to agree on arealistic price for the Brushstrokes.com domain. They were prepared togo no higher than $150,000 and we were holding out for somewhere between$200-250,000. Had the deal gone ahead Atelier America Inc. could haverecovered this in a matter of weeks once the new business was launched.

In order to move forward with their “Plan B”, Atelier America thenregistered nearly 30 domain names, many in the form ofBrushstrokesSomething.com. The two that most people will be familiarwith were BrushstrokesArt.com and BrushstrokesDirect.com.

In November 2000 Atelier America Inc. went live with theirmillion-dollar website under BrushstrokesArt.com. This was laterswitched to BrushstrokesDirect.com.

Executing the perfect wedding day is an art form, and readers agree that it belongs in a museum. For the second year in a row, the Columbus Museum of Art has been voted the best venue for museum/gallery receptions and contemporary/modern receptions.

We offer an experience to, especially our wedding clients, that you’re not going to be able to get anywhere else in Columbus, says special events sales manager Olivia Karp. Not only do your guests have the experience of witnessing a union, but they also get to experience a Columbus institution and engage with the arts.

The museum provides a variety of spaces for up to 250 guests. For large events, the Schottenstein Property Group Pavilion features a sleek and modern design that can serve as a blank canvas for any style, while Derby Court evokes the ornate aesthetics one might expect from such a historic institution. Together with the Atrium, Broad Street Lobby and Patricia M. Jurgensen Sculpture Garden, the museum gives couples enough options to accommodate every kind of reception or ceremony. Renting out the entire building gives guests private access to the galleries, which is sure to create lasting memories.

The events team works hard to make every wedding at the museum as smooth as possible, all in service of the CMA mission to create great experiences with great art for everyone.

Columbus Museum Of Art Wedding Photos

I cannot think of a better way to spend my quarantine time than to try and catch up on blogging all the amazing sessions Ive done in the past year. This one is super special to me. When Mike asked me if I wanted to take his wedding photos, I think I asked him if he was sure about 5 times. He is a photographer Ive always looked up to and it felt like the biggest honor that he wanted and trusted me to be there to capture the day. Mike and Laura are two incredible people who you should be so lucky to know.

The day started with a few photos of Mike while he waited for his bride to arrive. He was nervously relaxedI think more excited than anything. It was raining outside and Lauras dad held an umbrella for her as she walked towards the Columbus Museum of Art. A smile lit up her face when she saw me open the doors and start taking her photo.

Once inside, Laura climbed the steps in the new Modern wing and turned the corner to surprise Mike with their first look. It was perfect and there was so much palpable joy radiating between them both. The three of us walked around the museum and took so many stunning photos. It was relaxed and silly, which are the perfect two words to describe them.

Congratulations to Mike and Laura who just celebrated one year of marriage! So much love to you both. XO Jess
