When youre traveling down Californias world famous Avenue of the Giants, lined with stunning towering coastal redwood trees, youll also find a whole slew of roadside attractions. Most are some type of giant redwood tree attraction with an attached gift shop, like the Immortal Tree, the Eternal Tree, the Living Chimney Tree, the Grandfather Tree, the World-Famous Tree House, and One Log House, as well as the Klamath Tour-Thru Tree, the Shrine Drive-Thru Tree, and the Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree, and even the Trees of Mystery.
Needless to say, The Legends of Bigfoot Gift Shop is a nice change of pace.
Located on a curve along Highway 101 and Avenue of the Giants, The Legend of Bigfoot Gift Shop, is a souvenir shop selling redwood chainsaw carvings, burl carvings, souvenirs, and gifts.
While the name of this kitschy giftshop and the giant Bigfoot statue out front lead you to believe this is a Bigfoot themed tourist attraction, its not. Its just a smart name and gimmick to get you to stop at the shop and we were totally okay with that.
After grabbing a photo with the Bigfoot statue, we wandered through the gift shop, checking out bear statues, painted gnomes, redwood carvings, wind chimes, and burl gifts, outside, and t-shirts, mugs, jewelry, Bigfoot gift items, bird feeders, jellies, jams, and honey, stickers, keychains, magnets, and postcards inside. The kids also had fun stretching their legs by exploring a redwood tree playhouse.
Years Of The Allman Brothers Band: The History Of The Big House Museum
MACON, Ga. You can help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band by visiting their museum at The Big House for free on Tuesday.
They will have 50th anniversary merchandise for sale and discounts in the gift shop.
The owners of the Big House, Kirk and Kirsten West, worked for years to turn the Allman Brothers’ Macon home into a museum honoring the band.
After the death of Gregg Allman in June 2017, West told our Suzanne Lawler the story of how the museum came to be.

“Throughout the 70s and 80s that’s what I did to make a living, shooting concerts. That was the time that I got to know the band really well,” said Kirk.
He documented them every step of the way and he displays his work at a gallery on Third Street in Macon.
He hung out with the guys so much eventually they offered him another job opportunity in the early 90s. He worked as a tour manager for 20 years.
They say they had a tough time cutting through red tape to make that happen, so in true Allman form, if folks showed up, chances are they’d open the door and invite them on in.

Eventually Kirk and Kirsten started a foundation to raise money and turn the home into what it is today.

The Allman Brothers Band
In 1969 a revolution was launched from the streets of Macon, consisting of guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, and a uniquely spirited brotherhood. The revolutionaries of record were the Allman Brothers Band, who, as the founders of what became known as Southern rock, changed the course of popular American music and turned Macon into the recording hot bed of the 1970s.
The band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969 by brother Duane Allman with Gregg Allman , Dickey Betts , Berry Oakley , Butch Trucks , and Jaimoe . While the band has been called the principal architects of Southern rock, they also incorporate elements of blues, jazz, and country music, and their live shows have jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals.

Home to The Allman Brothers Bandâs original members, their families, and various friends from 1970 to 1973, The Big House allows the unique opportunity to experience the surroundings of the rock and roll tenants of the 18-room home. Preserving A Cultural Icon
In the early 80s, Oscar winning director Francis Ford Coppola came to Tulsa, OK to catapult S.E. Hintons memorable characters off the pages of The Outsiders book onto the big screen. Rather than use a Hollywood back lot, the film maker and crew transformed an ordinary Tulsa neighborhood into a fully functioning movie set. In 1983, The Outsiders was released, featuring a cast of young, talented actors who would go on to become household names.
The director and film crews departed, the actors and props scattered, and the local extras went back to their day to day lives. On 27 September, World Tourism Day, Fabergé Museum invites you to visit the largest collection of Fabergé masterpieces in the world hosted in the very heart of St. Petersburg. We invite tour operators, tourist agencies and tourists on this virtual journey to St. Petersburg. An Extension Of The Museum
To be a store located in the exit path or not to bethat is the question. And each museum works out the answer for itself.
The strategy of funneling people through the gift store made popular by Disney World years ago has become a necessary evil, Walsky says. There is an art to doing it well a great museum gift shop is an extension of the museum itself. Whether or not there is some kind of door, threshold or entryway that actually separates the store from the exhibits, you want patrons to be completely oblivious to that separation.
Andoniadis, on the other hand, urges his clients to consider putting the store on the right-hand side just before leaving. To me, forcing people to go through a store when theyre exiting a serious museum is a very commercial end to a museum visit, he says. It puts quite a bit of strain on the store to have people going through who are not interested in buying, and the people who are serious about buying are disturbed by people going out.
One of the things Ive been observing a lot is putting exhibition materials in the stores, Fisher says. You may see a piece of art or an artifact displayed in the store now, but as an extension of the educational mission of the museum.
