How The Artist Went From Anonymously Admiring Icons To Sharing The Stage In An Iconic Modernized Art Show

Architect James Wines on “nature’s revenge” | BUILT ECOLOGIES: ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENT

Ryan Wilson, better known to the industry by his alias, ThankYouX, is recognized as a pioneer in creating unique art that uses Andy Warhols methodology in addition to Jean-Michel Basquiats brilliance to embed his own stories within his pieces that illustrate modern-day work.

In 2009, the streets of Los Angeles were first introduced to ThankYouX, as his spray-painted, stenciled imagery of Andy Warhol became a celebrated sensation. Through its immersion into globally exhibited works like Warhol and Keith Haring, the street graffiti encompasses a unique illustration derived from abstract designs and geometric-shaped cubes.

I didnt have a full plan or anything like that. But I knew I wanted to do something that could stick and catch someones eye. And so I did it, he told Hypemoon.

Over time, the graffiti artists Warhol-like style caught local attention in an LA art exhibition, garnering what is now his 110K following. His signatory cube designs began appearing in murals across California, sparking ThankYouX to further explore new ways to incorporate his work alongside emerging technologies, such as blockchain and NFTs.

Similar to how he has continued to challenge the status quo of street and fine art, ThankYouX has spent the last two years immersing himself in podcasts and educational resources, while networking with some of Web3s most impactful thought leaders.

“My primary duties being the Bechtlers Community Outreach intern are to assist with outreach programs/classes, research lesson plans, and collect data that will enhance the Outreach Program. “My primary duties include assisting with classes, assisting artists who use the studio space, and helping set up the gallery space for artist shows and classes. This internship is important to me because the position allows me to work outside of the studio and meet other artists who can teach me their process and help me to build my skills as an artist. This internship is also important to me because it enables me to gain experience in a work environment and increase my skills as an intern.”

The Architecture Makes The Museum

If you ever go to art school you will eventually have the discussion on how to frame a painting. Normally, the frame is to complement the art piece. The Bechtler is about framing the collection, and they have done an outstanding job. I find the collection good, but the staff has taken it up a notch by showing how the donor connects to the artists.

This museum holds the collection of a family, so much of it was not in my taste. But I found it very interesting nonetheless.I most liked the Andy Warhol paintings. There were people on each floor who you could ask questions of, and I had a lively conversation with one of them about the importance of art in life. It was a little pricey but worth it. It only took us about an hour to go through it. There are 4 floors but only 2 with a lot of art. This is right beside the Mint Museum Uptown.

My wife, son and I went her for something to do during our stay in Charlotte. It was $8/person. Thank goodness my wife found a Groupon discount that saved us $10.The entire museum is 4 floors.1st floor is lobby, admin counter, and gift shop.2nd floor has about 25 items to look at.3rd floor has about 25 items to look at.4th floor is the lion share of the exhibits and quite nice.Whole trip hear lasted about 90 minutes which includes 30 minutes in the gift shop.
