After a successful pop-up in NYC in 2016, the Museum of Ice Cream now has a permanent location in New York. The MOIC in NYC is the first of several flagship locations launching in the US and abroad. Heres what you need to know about it.
What To Expect At Ice Cream Museum
Your Ice Cream Museum experience starts with what else but ice cream, something the museum calls the palette cleanser.
Then you go through exciting rooms such as Helium balloon room, Sundae room, Chocolate room, Sprinkle pool, etc., each a unique experience in itself.
All along you can take tonnes of photographs because every corner seems beautiful.
Some of the highlights are sliding down the 3-story indoor Ice Cream Portal, riding to the outer space in the Celestial Subway, dancing through the Rainbow Tunnel, and getting into New Yorks only Sprinkle Pool.

How Online Tickets Work
When you book Ice Cream Museum tickets, you select your preferred time and date of visit.
Immediately after purchase, your tickets get emailed to you. You dont need to take any printouts.
Once you reach the New York museum at the time mentioned on your ticket, you can show your ticket on your smartphone and enter.
Museum Of Ice Cream: What’s The Scoop
Have you seen the new bubblegum pink building in the Domain? Is your Instagram feed already loaded with images of people swimming in a pool of sprinkles? The Museum of Ice Cream has just opened a popup location right here in Austin, and were gonna give you the scoop on what its all about.
First and foremost, this is not a museum in which you should expect to learn much, or anything really, about ice cream. It is a showcase of interactive installations all tied loosely to the theme of ice cream. Its basically a silly fun house to walk through and take some cheerful photos. And yes, ice cream does come included with your admission ticket.
Museum of Ice Cream has roots as a popular New York City attraction that branched out with popup locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, and Singapore welcoming in over 2 million visitors. Austin is now home to the MOICs latest location that features 12 installations dedicated to the celebration of ice cream.
When you arrive for your set ticketed time, you will be guided through several rooms in which you can take playful photos. The 3 most popular experiences are the the Sprinkle Pool, Banana Forest and Rainbow Tunnel. As you go through the MOIC, you will be served five treats like the carnival cotton candy and a Shirley Temple soft serve.

Museum Of Ice Cream Chicago Announces Grand Opening Date
The inside scoop is out limited tickets for Museum of Ice Creams grand opening will be available on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10am! MOIC is opening its doors to the Windy City on Saturday, July 16, 2022 to scoops of all ages and flavors. After 2 million visitors across 7 sold-out locations, MOIC has found its latest sweet spot in the historic Chicago Tribune building on Michigan Avenue.
Other Highlights At The Museum Of Ice Cream:
- Princess castle-inspired Marble Run that kids can crank up to dispense a huge marble and then watch it roll round and round
- Old fashioned pink telephones to pose next to as well as a fun jukebox in Screams Diner

The Exhibits Are Weird At Moic
There are ten or so exhibits to shuffle through during your visit at the museum. Some rooms were interesting, like the interstellar subway. It does give the illusion like youre on a train and for a minute I wondered when it would stop so we could exit. Then I realized that I could leave at anytime because it wasnt actually moving.
The room with the hanging pink and yellow bananas was unusual and simply a spot for photos. Everyone stood there and just watched others take pictures. And, the bananas were super phallic.
The rainbow hallway was a neat photo opp as well are you seeing a theme here? The problem with the rainbow hallway is that it leads to the slide and the line was all the way backed up through the rainbow hallway so there was no photo taking without 100 other people.
The sprinkle pool is the pièce de résistance. Youre not allowed to wear shoes into the pool and you can wade around in the plastic sprinkles as long as you wish. The sprinkles were very similar to a plastic ball pit but a pool of them were super dense and not easily swimmable.
The whole thing takes about an hour depending how long you dilly-dally in each room
How Timed Tickets Work
You can arrive at the entrance of the Ice Cream Museum up to half an hour after your ticketed entry time.
That is, if your ticket has 3 pm mentioned on it, you can enter the museum till 3.30 pm.
If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, the guest relationship manager tries their best to accommodate your entry.
However, admission is not guaranteed. You wont get a refund as well.

Dragon Playground At Moic Singapore
One of the highlights at the Museum of Ice Cream is the fully-functional, Singapore-inspired Dragon Playground thats actually a unicorn design with an area to climb up and a small slide to whizz down. There are banana swings and some basketball hoops to shoot while you are there.
The whole place is designed for lots of posing for Instagram its pink, pink and more pink. Look out for the red, orange, pink and yellow wall of 10,000 bananas that leads to a craft area for kids to make a little pink ice cream truck out of paper.
Museum Of Ice Cream Announces Final Ticket Sales
The most Instagram-able South Florida hot spot announced Monday that they are doing a final round of ticket sales before they hit the road.
The Museum of Ice Cream, a traveling exhibit thats an explosion of color, whimsy, photo ops, and of course, ice cream, is opening up ticket sales again on Tuesday, Feb. 27 for tour dates through April 29. With locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the museum made its way to the Magic City in a soft launch during Art Basel in December 2017.
Since its opening, photos inside the museum have been splashed across social media, from riding on the banana and cherry swings, stacking ice cream blocks, ice cream cone windmills, the iconic sprinkle pool, loads of ice cream treats, and neon hues splashed across the walls in a way that only South Florida could appreciate. Each location has a different look, with the Miami museum covered in palm trees and color-splash prints one could find at a Lilly Pulitzer storeplus, lots and lots of pink.
Guests book a specific start time for their tour, beginning in a room filled with ice cream trivia, and then are taken into the ever-popular sprinkle pool for a limited amount of time. From there, guests are able to travel from exhibit to exhibit at their own pace, receiving a cold treat at every stop. The journey ends on the roof of the Miami Beach spot with a key lime pie ice cream cone as they overlook the water.

What Can I Eat At The Museum Of Ice Cream
Admission includes a “Scoop of the Week,” doled out by notable local ice cream pros and foodie favorites like Odd Fellows Ice Cream Co. and Black Tap. You’ll also get to visit to the museum’s Future Food Studio, created by food futurist Dr. Irwin Adam, where you can indulge in some of his more unusual ice cream concoctions.
Covid Protocols At Moic
Lets first talk about the COVID protocols at the museum. When we visited in December 2021, the city was experiencing a spike in cases and restrictions were strictly enforced with a few exceptions.
- Upon entry, all eligible visitors must show proof of vaccination with ID. See more about vaccination mandates here.
- Masks are to be worn at all times. The only exceptions are when eating ice cream or taking a photograph.
The mask requirement is weird because there are several times you are given ice cream or popsicles that are consumed all while youre wondering through the exhibits. And photos? The museum was built on Instagram photos. Not a ton of mask wearing happening, friends.

After opening its first permanent store in San Francisco last year, Museum of Ice Cream has announced that it will be launching a New York City flagship location.
The interactive art museum created for dessert-lovers has been spotted all over , and the upcoming SoHo location will be its most innovative yet. Boasting a three-story space, the Museum of Ice Cream New York will feature 13 all-new, multi-sensory installations, including a Celestial Subway, floating table of sweet treats, a three-story slide, a hall of giant scoops, a giant Queen Bee Hive and ice cream tastings. Of course, it wouldnt be a proper ice cream museum without a sprinkle pool, and this location will feature the brands biggest sprinkle pool to-date. A MOIC café and retail store will be open to the public as well.
Tickets will be $38 USD per person, and children under 2 years old can enter for free. How Much Does The Museum Of Ice Cream Cost
Ticket prices are $42 for a single admission and may be reserved online. Children two and under are free.
Fully vaccinated peeps will be allowed to enjoy the Museum of Ice Cream in groups of five, including unvaccinated children aged 12 and below if all children are from the same household. Unvaccinated individuals will be required to present a valid negative COVID-19 PET result from a clinic, taken within the last 24 hours prior to time of admission.

Ice Cream Museum Prices
Ice Cream Museum ticket costs $47.50 for all visitors three years and above.
At $56.08 for all visitors three years and above, Ice Cream Museums night tickets are costlier than the regular tickets.
The museum doesnt offer discounts for seniors, students, or the disabled.
Infants younger than three years dont need tickets and can enter for free.
Note: During the tour, you get to eat delicious treats, all included with your admission.

Tickets for visiting the Museum of Ice Cream are already on sale. For $38 per person, you dont only get admission to the MOIC, your ticket also includes ice cream tastings and signature treats exclusive to the MOIC NYC.
Considering that the Museum of Ice Cream pop-up in 2016 was sold out extremely quickly and the word about MOIC is spreading on social media, its best to reserve your tickets in advance.
