The Museums Relocation To The Upper East Side
The Whitney started looking for a location for a bigger structure in 1961. It made its home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in 1966 at the southeast intersection of Madison Avenue and 75th Street. The building, designed and constructed in a very modern style between 1963 and 1966 by Marcel Breuer and Hamilton P. Smith, is immediately recognizable from the nearby townhouses by its staircase façade made of granite stones and its trapezoidal windows. Mauricio Lasansky displayed The Nazi Drawings in 1967. The exhibition was taken on the road to the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, where it debuted with exhibitions by Andrew Wyeth and Louise Nevelson as the first displays in the brand-new museum.

The Whitney Museum is located at 99 Gansevoort Street in Manhattans Meatpacking District, steps from the Hudson River and the West Side Highway.
The Whitney is easily accessible by bicycle, subway, bus and cab. For most, the easiest way to get to the Whitney Museum is to use the New York City subway.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is open six days a week except for Tuesday. Every Saturday and Sunday, the museum welcomes visitors from 11 am to 6 pm and holds member viewings from 10:30 am to 11 am. It operates on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10: 30 am to 6 pm. On Friday, it extends until 10 pm when it offers its Pay-What-You Wish for tickets from 7 pm onwards. On normal days, adults tickets cost $25, while seniors, students, and people with disabilities will have to pay $18 per ticket. Museum visitors aged 18 years and below have free admission.
Everyone is advised to reserve timed-entry tickets online in accordance with the museums health safety protocol. There are also circulation routes that aid in the management of people. Hand sanitizers are prevalent in the museum.

The Whitney Museum was the first museum to present works made by American artists who were not famous or little known. It was also the first museum to organize an exhibition of video works by Nam June Paik in 1982. The Whitney is also the first to present a retrospective of Jasper Johns, Cy Twombly, and Cindy Sherman.
The most famous event of the museum is its biennial, featuring artists and more recent works of American art.

In this weekend’s issue of my newsletter, I share a portion of my journal entry, recapping a recent visit to the Whitney Museum of American Art to check out the “Whitney Biennial 2022: Quiet As It’s Kept” Exhibition, along with photos of art in the museum that really caught my eye!
So this journal entry begins with me reflecting on a recent conversation about the Whitney Biennial 2022 Exhibition with a friend who is a connoisseur of modern art as I was taking a brisk walk at the High Line.
Since I haven’t seen the Whitney Biennial 2022 Exhibition, hearing about it piqued my curiosity, so much so that during my walk at the High Line, I decided to visit the Whitney Museum this weekend to get a live look at the Whitney Biennial Exhibition for myself!
Before I knew it, I was walking in the West Village and Meat Packing District on my way to the Whitney Museum, which was now in my direct line of sight!
A few minutes later, I was walking into the Whitney Museum, and the second I came out of the revolving glass doors, I felt this rush of creative energy circulating in the air, which put me in a relaxed state of mind.
After recording a short video for my journal, I went back inside the museum to begin my tour. Let’s do it!

The Dawn Of An Architectural Paragon
A head-turner amid the bustling street, Whitneys building is an art on display. It covers 50,000 square feet of space for galleries and 13,000 square feet of outdoor space. It was designed by architect Renzo Piano, who rendered it in an asymmetrical form that takes note of the neighborhoods industrial characteristics. The building exudes every contemporary style accompanied by a picturesque overlooking view of the west part of the Hudson River, iconic in New York.
The Whitney houses permanent collections on its two floors, holds special exhibitions on its last floor, and has a 170-seat theatre, conservation lab, paper study center, and library reading room. You can also dine at the Whitney Café or chill at the Studio Bar .

About Whitney Museum 2022
The Whitney Museum of American Art was initially known as the Whitney. This is an art museum located in Manhattan. Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney founded the museum. He was a wealthy and prominent American socialite and patron, after whom the museum is named.
The museums main focus is to collect all the American art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum has a permanent collection of artworks, ranging from the 19th century to this century. There is a massive collection of more than 25,000 sculptures, paintings, films, videos, drawings, prints, photographs, and artifacts from old to new media.
There are more than 3500 artists whose works are exhibited in the museum. The museums main emphasis is to display the art of those living legends and upcoming artists. The museum also conducts annual and biennial exhibitions, an excellent platform for the younger generation artists.
The museum was opened in 1966, and until 2014 it was housed at 945 Madison Avenue at Manhattans Upper Eastside. This was a building designed by Marcel Breuer and Hamilton-Smith. This museum was closed in October 2014, and the same was relocated to a new building designed by Renzo Piano located at 99 Gansevoort Street in the west village of Lower Manhattan.
The new museum was reopened in the year 2015 on the 1st of May. The museum also houses an excellent auditorium, four large terraces all of these are linked with the outer staircases.
