Myseum: Best For Hands On Play
Like the Magic House, the much newer Myseum is full of interactive STEM experiments and creative play areas. This museum is smaller, but theres not a lot of overlap with the Magic Houses offerings, so you should definitely check it out. Stand out exhibits are the Veterinary office , a seaweed swamp made of pool noodles, a dino dig zone and a slide with a speed radar.
Myseum serves kids from 2 to 12, with a dedicated area for toddlers.
Give yourself at least two hours to fully explore Myseum. Several areas are no shoes allowed so they encourage kids to just leave their shoes in a cubby and run around in socks.

Whether its a leisurely bike ride, coming face to face with wild animals, exploring an underground cavern, or a thrilling ride on a zip line, St. Louis has the perfect way to get your family outside and active.
Adventure Valley Zip Line
While officially little kids just need to be potty trained and fit into a harness, its the bigger kids, tweens, and teens who will most love this ten-zipline canopy tour and paintball park. We are talking 1.5 miles of ziplines including a single one that is 1,100 feet long and gets you flying up to 50 mph. The Adventure Valley guides make it all fun, and no worries, the safety standards are stringent. The paintball park has open play on Saturday and Sundays for those 12 and older. Really, this is a largely underappreciated gem of a place that offer experiences kids will remember for a lifetime!
Citygarden
Citygarden was design specifically for you and your family, and any downtown visit should include it. This oasis of interactive art, gardens, and dancing fountains for kids to run through is a perfect hour-long stop between visits to the Arch or the ballpark both within walking distance. The winding path takes the family through 24 conversation-inducing sculptures. Then there are six rain gardens, a childrens spray plaza, and a 180-foot-long shallow pool with a six-foot waterfall, all especially popular on a hot afternoon .
Ohand there are usually several food trucks dispensing snacks, drinks, sandwiches, and desserts.
Lone Elk Park
History Clubhouse At The Missouri History Museum: Best History Made Fun
The History Clubhouse is a wing of the Missouri History Museum set aside just for kids of all ages. In true childrens museum fashion, kids can learn hands-on, through play. The museum hosts special storytelling and craft making sessions from babies in your lap to pre-schoolers.
The History Clubhouse shows kids the history of St. Louis with hands on play. They can fish the Mississippi like an ancient Cahokian or ride a riverboat like Mark Twain.
The History Clubhouse is free, but youll need to get a timed ticket so the space doesnt get overly crowded. Tickets are first come, first served. Storytimes are held in the mornings, while field trips are scheduled from 1-4pm. The general public is always welcome at anytime.
The Clubhouse is NOT a drop off program, so stick to your kids!

City Museum: Best For Explorers
The City Museum is a St. Louis treasure: totally fun, weird, artsy and not for the faint of heart. It was designed by artists, not playground engineers, so keep an eye on your kidsif you can keep up! The museum is full of upcycled industrial objects turned into art that kids can crawl on, in and through. Theres a man made cave system, human habitrail, mini train, slides several stories tall and a circus. Yes, they have an inhouse circus of acrobats and jugglers.
The City Museum is the least educational of the grouptheres plenty of whimsical art and salvaged architectural treasures, but this place is more about play than learning. And thats great.
Toddler Town Castle recently opened exclusively for kids under 6. But seriously, this place is best enjoyed by school age kids, just for your own sanity. Dont even try to bring a stroller here.
The City Museum is truly a place for ALL agesyoull see plenty of teens and college kids on weekends when theyre open to midnight and hosting a DJ.
And yes, theres a full bar located in the Cabin Inn.
Warning! The museum has tunnels and slides that pop out on DIFFERENT FLOORS. If you have small kids, strap on some knee pads and follow them. Ive enjoyed the museum much more when taking a group of older kids who can buddy up and explore on their ownfrequently checking back with me, of course.
You can easily spend all day here, but 2-3 hours is a good solid visit.

- Reservations and tickets are not required to visit the permanent-collection galleries. Visitors are encouraged to secure tickets for some programs and main exhibitions in advance to avoid lines inside the Museum.

- Physical distancing is encouraged, especially in busy areas like the Museum Shops, the Cafe, and restrooms.

Special Events Museum Rentals & Birthday Parties
Throughout the year GRCM hosts two to three events geared specifically to adults. These events have ranged from murder mysteries to 90s dance parties, and even a Carnival.
GRCM gives you space to engage with the theme as well with some of the typical exhibits they have .
One of the most exciting ways to engage at GRCM is through a museum rental. You get the whole museum to yourself one one of the days theyre closed to the public. At least three staff are present to help, and you also have access to their two large conference rooms upstairs with tables and sinks.
If youve never experienced a Childrens Museum party, youre missing out. Its so fun to watch kids AND grownups exploring every exhibit with huge smiles on their faces.
