How To Use It

• Venue Address: 111 Alamo Plaza Opposite H& M
• Swap your smartphone voucher for a paper ticket at the City Sightseeing Visitor Center, next to the Alamo
• Show your ticket when boarding the bus and at the entrance of the museum
• Bus frequency: Every 15-20 minutes
• No pets allowed, with the exception of service animals
• Kids under 12 get in free, no ticket needed
• Kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult
• The museum has free entry on Tuesdays 16:00-21:00 and Sundays 10:00-12:00

Free admission to the San Antonio Museum of Art is offered twice a week on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. 12 p.m for Bexar County residents. Children 12 and under are always free. The San Antonio Museum of Art has other free/discounted offerings each month that include:

Museums on Us program: One FREE general admission on the first full weekend of every month to Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders.

Museums For All program: General admission for families receiving food assistance benefits is $3 per person, up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer card

University & Corporate Partners program: Alamo Colleges, Texas A& M University-San Antonio, Trinity University, University of the Incarnate Word , and UT Health San Antonio students, faculty, and staff receive FREE general admission to the Museum and free parking during business hours with their school IDs. H-E-B employees receive FREE general admission and free parking with their company ID. Parking validation provided at Admissions Desk

Viva Culture Bus Riders: All VIVA Culture Route riders receive a $2 discount on general admission when they show their bus ticket.

Visit Free On Certain Nights

The McNay participates in free museum days along with many other venues in San Antonio. Every Thursday night from 4 to 9 pm, the McNay hosts free nights sponsored by HEB. Additionally, the first Sunday of the month is also free from Noon until 5 pm. Finally, if youre a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch cardholder, you can get free admission on the first full weekend of every month.

When Will San Antonio Museum Of Art Reopen

Great news everybody, the San Antonio Museum of Art has announced its return! The museum will reopen to members on May 26 and 27, and to the general public on May 28. As per state guidelines, it will only operate at 25% capacity to start. Staff and visitors will be required to wear masks.

Hours will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday. The museum will be closed on Monday.

The gift shop will remain closed, as well as all public event programming.

Holocaust Memorial Museum Of San Antonio

12500 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78231

There is no admission fee to visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum. It is open Monday Friday, 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. While there is no admission fee, a suggested donation of $1 per student and $3 per adult is recommended. Holiday hours may apply. Enter through the main entrance of The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Jewish Campus at 12500 N.W. Military Highway. The Holocaust Memorial Museum is located on the upper level.

As of the posting date, only virtual tours of the museum are available due to COVID concerns.

About The Mcnay Art Museum

San Antonios McNay Art Museum bears the distinction of being the first museum of modern art in Texas. The museum first opened its doors to the public in 1954 with 700 works of art and today has expanded to over 22,000 pieces spanning from the Medieval period to today. The West Starts Here Many cities claim to be the birthplace of the West, but without San Antonio and South Texas, the West as we know it wouldnt exist. Step inside the Briscoe Western Art Museum to experience the art and artifacts that bring the stories that shaped the West to life.

What is Western Art? Western art shares the stories of the cowboy, the vaquero, Native Americans, and the vast beauty of the Western landscape through drawings, sketches, paintings, and sculptures. As the culture shifts, so does our interpretation of Western art, but the stories remain the same.

Housed in HistoryNestled on the banks of the San Antonio River Walk, the museums main building served as San Antonios original public library in the 1930s followed by the Hertzberg Circus Collection and Museum in the 1980s. After an extensive renovation, the Briscoe Western Art Museum opened in 2013. A branch of the San Antonio Public Library can be found on the first floor, honoring the buildings origins. The museum is named in honor of Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe, Jr., and his wife Janey Slaughter Briscoe, who envisioned a museum that would share the story of Western heritage and the people behind that story.

The Quadrangle And The Ft Sam Houston Museum

The Quadrangle is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends and federal holidays, its open from noon to 6:00 p.m. The Ft. Sam Museum is located inside the historic Quadrangle on Liscum Road. Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m., Tuesday thru Friday and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Visitors without a valid government should use the Walters Street gate off of IH-35. Visitors must obtain a pass by stopping in the Visitor Control Center and presenting a form of identification. Admission to both is free.

Located just a brief walk from the San Antonio River Walk, the museum celebrates the art, heritage, and tall tales of the West. Explore its galleries and youll discover the magic and allure of this one-of-a-kind region.

Your journey begins before you enter the museum. Take a moment to regard the impressive limestone façade of the building, which was originally the Central San Antonio Public Library that opened in 1930. Then step inside to travel back in time.

The museums first level is a showcase of the history of the American West. Admire ancient Native American art and more as you discover how the regions many cultures helped shape it into what it is today. On the second level, youll marvel at paintings and sculptures that depict the romance and mystery of the West.
