Norton Museum Rings In Summer Season With Full Slate Of Special Programming A Focus On Picasso And Outdoor Initiatives
Starting Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day, the Norton of Museum of Art will host a wide array of exhibitions, events, and family activities as part of its second annual Summer at the Norton programming initiative .
On view will be a number of temporary exhibitions that include works created in a variety of media by Pablo Picasso at different stages in his career, while a robust programming schedule will offer the opportunity for visitors of all ages to interact with the Norton. Palm Beach County residents will receive free admission to the Museum on Saturdays from May 28-September 5, thanks to the generosity of the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation.
This year’s Summer at the Norton features a plethora of outdoor events including art classes, family workshops, drum circles, tai chi, and walking tours of the sculptures throughout the Museum’s subtropical Pamela and Robert B. Goergen Garden. Additionally, “Yappy Saturday” events will welcome community members and their canine friends to enjoy the Museum’s expansive grounds. Art After Dark will continue throughout the summer with a weekly series of Friday evening live performances, film screenings, workshops, and tours. Making its debut on May 27, and on view through November 16, is the Afterschool Arts Outreach Annual Exhibition, which will feature works by local students ages 7-17 and their teaching artists in the Museum’s Afterschool Arts Outreach program.

Norton Norton was an American businessman and art collector. He was the founder of the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Norton Museum of Art, founded in 1941, is located in Norton, Massachusetts, and is the home of Ralph Hubbard Norton and Elizabeth Calhoun Norton. The mission of this organization is to preserve and protect the most beautiful parts of the past. Art from the 1960s to the present is represented in the contemporary collection. Georgia OKeeffe, John Marin, Robert Motherwell, and Charles Sheeler are some of the artists mentioned in the book. The Norton Museum of Art in Florida is the largest museum dedicated to European art in the state. Some of the paintings and sculptures on display are from Paul Gauguin, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. The Museum of Photography has over 3,000 photographs that span the history of photography.

Joseph Stella: Visionary Nature
Although Joseph Stella, , is best known for his dynamic paintings of modern America, during World War I he began to explore the natural world in his art. Through lyrical and exuberant depictions of flowers, plants, and birds, he sought a spiritual antidote to modern industry and the technology of war. Stellas interest in natural subjects also related to his memories of his boyhood in Southern Italy. This first major museum exhibition to examine this aspect of Stellas career showcases the artists talent with a wide variety of media, including oil paint, silverpoint, watercolor, pastel, and collage, and traces his distinctive path as he reconnected with his Italian roots, Renaissance art, and the tropical landscape of Barbados later in life.

Rudin Prize For Emerging Photography
In 2012, the Norton Museum of Art launched the Rudin Prize for Emerging Photographers, which comes with a $20,000 prize. It was an initiated by Beth Rudin DeWoody and is given biennially to an emerging photographer who has never had a museum show.

Free Admission To Cox Science Center And Norton Museum Of Art For Bank Of America Customers
The Norton Museum of Art is one of the museums participating in Bank of America’s Museums On Us program.
Bank of Americas Museums on Us program provides its cardholders free admission to participating history museums, aquariums, science centers, botanical gardens and other cultural attractions on the first full weekend of each month. Two of these prized institutions are located in West Palm Beach: the Norton Museum of Art and the Cox Science Center and Aquarium.
The Bank of America program has been running for 25 years because of its belief that the arts have a unique ability to connect people and communities and to help local economies thrive.
Free admission is available to credit and debit cardholders of Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank but not to their guests. The Museums On Us program has more than 225 institutions participating in 35 states.
The next eligible Museums on Us weekend is May 7 and 8.
The Norton Museum of Art was founded by steel industrialist Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Norton in 1941 as a way for them to share their vast art collection with the community. Now the Norton Museum of Arts permanent collection includes over 8,200 works from five curatorial departments: European, American, Chinese, Contemporary and Photography.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. It’s the final days to see two exhibits at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach.
A Remarkable Gathering exhibit at Norton Museum of Art
“A Remarkable Gathering: The Fisher Landau Family Collection” comprises artworks by many of the most outstanding artists of the late 20th century and accounts for some of the finest examples of their work over an eighty-year period. The exhibit closes Sept. 11.
J. Rachel Gustafson, the Norton Museum’s senior director of curatorial operations and research, said the collection “looks at 80 years of art making from the viewpoint of one passionate collector, Emily Fisher Landau.”
She said the collection spans from the earliest works into the 1920s to contemporary artists like Andy Warhol.
Norton Museum of Art’s “Years of Glass” collection
The year 2022 marks four decades of collecting contemporary glass at the Norton and it is on display through Labor Day weekend.
“We’re looking at the Norton collection holistically over that 40-year period and saying, ‘Well, what have we collected? When we look at the medium of glass, what does that mean? What are its forms? What is its function?,'” Gustafson said. “And so you have a quite diverse grouping of objects. It’s not just vessels like you see behind me here, but all sorts of different ways artists have deployed that medium to make something beautiful.”
A Personal View On High Fashion & Street Style: Photographs From The Nicola Erni Collection 1930s To Now
This special exhibition includes nearly 300 photographs from the Nicola Erni Collection and marks the first time this world-renowned, Switzerland-based collection is on view to the public. The exhibition reveals two genres of photography, including the posed, stylized world of fashion photography, as well as the candid, spontaneous realm of street photography, and the ways they have influenced each other. Spanning over 90 years and as many artists, the exhibition includes iconic photographers of the 20th century like Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Bill Cunningham, and major photographers of today, such as The Sartorialist, Tyler Mitchell and Nadine Ijewere.

Plan your art and cultural visit to the Norton Museum. is well respected for its impressive collection of works. The Nortons permanent collection now consists of more than 7,600 works in five curatorial departments: European, American, Chinese, Contemporary and Photography. Featured masterpieces include works by Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Davis, OKeefe, Pollock and more.
The Norton Museum of Art reopened its doors on February 9 after undergoing a bold $100 million renovation. The museums expansion includes new gallery space, new restaurant, new sculpture garden, new education epicenter as well as a 210-seat auditorium. The renovations add onto the original space, founded in 1941.

Norton Museum Of Art: Free Admission During Transformative Expansion
In 2016, the Norton broke ground for a visionary expansion designed by the renowned London-based architecture firm Foster + Partners, under the direction of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster. The project reorients the Nortons entrance to the main thoroughfare of South Dixie Highway, restoring the symmetry of the museums original 1941 design, and includes a new 42,000-square-foot West Wing that doubles education space, increases gallery space for the Nortons acclaimed collection, and adds a 210-seat state-of-the-art auditorium and new dining pavilion. The transformation of the Museums 6.3-acre campus also will create a museum in a garden, featuring new, verdant spaces.
While the west and south sides of the Museum undergo this transformation, galleries on the east side will be open and free to the public. Reinstalled galleries include notable works from the Museum Collection such as Jackson Pollocks Night Mist, George Bellows Winter Afternoon, Edward Hoppers August in the City, and Georgia OKeeffes Pelvis with the MoonNew Mexico as well as Claude Monets Gardens of the Villa Moreno, Bordighera Paul Gauguins Christ in the Garden of Olives, Camille Pissarros The Presbytery Garden, Paul Cezannes Portrait of Alfred Hauge, and Edgar Degas bronze, Dancer Looking at the Sole of Her Right Foot, to name a few. Works from the Chinese Collection dating back 2,000 to 3,000 years ago also will be on view.

History Of Our Museum
The R.W. Norton Art Gallery houses an exceptional collection of art spanning more than four millennia. Since its opening in 1966, the museum has become particularly well-known around the country for its impressive collections of works by those titans of western art, Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell. The R.W. Norton Art Gallery is a teaching museum that uses the art to encourage community participation in thoughtful interpretations and discussions.
In the early 1920’s, Richard W. Norton became one of the discoverers of the Rodessa Oil Field in north Louisiana. Over time, Mr. Norton’s wife and son began to amass a significant collection of fine art. In 1946, to honor Mr. Norton and for the benefit of the community, Richard W. Norton, Jr. and his mother, Mrs. Richard W. Norton created the R.W. Norton Art Foundation. In turn, the Foundation eventually established the R.W. Norton Art Gallery, basing its initial collection upon donations from the acquisitions of the Nortons. Today, due to the on-going efforts of the Board of Control and the Foundation’s work, the R.W. Norton Art Gallery’s offerings continue to expand, grow, and contribute to their community.
