For events at NHM, our event staff will work with you during the booking process to determine which event spaces are the best fit for your group. In addition to the contracted event spaces, you are welcome to add on galleries in one-hour increments for your guests to enjoy. Please note, in order to protect our collections, that we do not allow food, drink, or setup outside of our event spaces.

For events at La Brea Tar Pits, all galleries are included in your rental.

How To Reserve A Party Package

Complete registration information below and please allow up to 48 hours to be contacted by our Events Coordinator. You will receive a call or email confirming your request and requesting a deposit of 50% of the total party price. Your party will be reserved when the deposit is paid in full. In case of cancellation, the museum will refund the 50% deposit to all parties that cancel up to two weeks prior to the scheduled party. All cancellations that are made less than five days prior to the scheduled party will forfeit their deposit, which will be considered a donation to the Museum. Additional purchases are non-refundable. The partys final payment, additional guests, and additional pizza fees must be paid a minimum of two days before the event starts.

Can I Get Married In The Rose Garden

The Exposition Park Rose Garden is available for wedding ceremonies through the Office of Exposition Park Management. We frequently host wedding receptions for ceremonies taking place in the Rose Garden, and our east gate provides convenient access for your guests to move from the Rose Garden to our property.

American Museum Of Natural History

It might surprise you to learn that the American Museum of Natural History is an excellent choice for kids birthday parties in NYC. Not only will your child enjoy a party they will never forget, but it will also prove educational. Museum staff created several different themed activities allowing your child to enjoy a part that is perfectly suited to their personality. Have DelMNS come visit you for your birthday party! Mobile Museum Birthday Outreach programs bring the fun of the museum to you, with a museum educator coming to your location with a program for your party guests! Options include either a Live Animal Show, where you will learn about and meet some of our live animal ambassadors, or a Fossil Show, where you can interact with fossil specimens and learn about dinosaurs.

Fee for outreach event programs is $175 each and last for one hour. An additional travel fee applies for locations further than 25 miles from the museum.

Please have a reliable adult available to help load/unload live animals, as needed. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled program start time. If you cancel your reservation less than 48 hours prior, you will not receive a refund.

Childrens Museum Of The Arts

Located in a 10,000 square foot space, the Childrens Museum of the Arts features a 2,000 piece collection of international childrens art. The museum features a variety of workshops including their fabulous media lab where kids can use the sound station, clay bar, and video equipment. Interactive displays on the museums second floor includes a ball pit.

    When Can I Host Events At The Natural History Museum Or The Museum At La Brea Tar Pits

    Our venues are available for events after our regular business hours of 9:30 am to 5 pm. Events typically take place between the hours of 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm, with load-in beginning no earlier than 4 pm and load-out ending by 12 am. You may purchase additional time allowing guests to stay as late as 12 am with load-out concluding by 2 am.

    • Dinosaur Detectives Party : $275 for up to 12 kids and up to 8 adult guests, including the birthday child and family.
    • Science Lab Party : $275 for up to 15 kids and up to 5 adults, including the birthday child and family.
    • We require at least 2 adults per party.
    • At this time, we are not able to allow additional guests to either party.
  • NHMU Members at the Family level and above receive a 10% discount on the party package
  • Are There Any Restrictions On Decor Or Other Event Elements

    Due to the sensitivity of our collections, we prohibit flames, potted plants or trees, live animals, helium balloons, confetti, glitter, smoke and/or fog machines, weapons, or the attachment of anything to the museum walls, ceilings, displays, or other fixtures. Everything brought in for your event must be free-standing.

    We are available for most types of evening events including dinners, receptions, holiday parties, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, retirement celebrations, fundraisers, galas, lectures, and more!     What Is Included In An Event Rental

    When you rent one or more of our spaces for an event, you receive:

    • Access to our inventory of tables and chairs, which can typically accommodate an event with up to 250 guests depending on your needs
    • Complimentary parking in the NHM Car Park or the Tar Pits Car Park
    • Custodial services to clean the event spaces before, during, and after your event
    • Security staff to ensure the protection of NHM and its collections
    • Event staff to ensure smooth operation of the venue during your event

    What Is Not Included In An Event Rental

    Catering and third-party rentals, including linens, stages, podiums, lounge/specialty furniture, lighting, audio-visual equipment, signage, carts, dollies, etc. must be contracted separately. Our event staff can provide a list of preferred vendors who are familiar with our venues and experienced at working in museum environments. You are welcome to work with a vendor who is not on our list however, they must meet our insurance requirements and be available for a walk-through. If you opt to use an outside caterer, a buy-out fee will apply.
