Discover the world and explore the universe at the Museum of Arts and Sciences! Learn about our observable universe, practice being an archeologist, view works of fine art, learn about different kinds of animals and MORE all in one day!
The Discovery House exhibit features three whole floors of interactive exhibits that explore the arts, science and humanities. On the top floor, kids can enjoy hands-on fun as they create their own works of art and create digital art dancing in our lightbox! The Humanist’s Study takes you on a journey of human history, with collections featuring butterflies, arrowheads, dolls and much more, and the Scientist’s Workshop is where kids can experiment and learn until their heart’s content! In this workshop, science is made fun as they communicate through whisper tubes, and unravel how things work at the workbenches, or they might prefer to dig for fossils in the Ziggy Dig, which is right below a 40 million-year-old whale fossil!
Explore our observable universe and watch immersive fulldome films in our state-of-the-art Planetarium.
You can also enjoy a WILD time at the Mini Zoo that’s centered around a replica Banyan Tree. Here, you can see a live show featuring real animals, learn all about the animal collection AND see over 40 actual animals too!

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

The Allman Brother Band Museum At The Big House
The Big House was the home of Southern Rock pioneers, the Allman Brothers Band from December 1969-January 1973. Today it is a showcase of the bands archives and memorabilia, with an upstairs that has been restored back to its original state when the band and their families lived in the house. Musical concerts are hosted at the Big House throughout the year, so check their website come tour the Big House and enjoy live music in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Museum Of Arts And Sciences Endowment Fund
The Museum of Arts and Sciences serves as an educational and cultural resource for Central Georgia. It is a multidisciplinary institution with a broad mission to interpret and exhibit objects of artistic, scientific, and cultural value and to organize related programming. Located on 18 acres of land in a facility of more than 48,000 square feet, the Museum offers 1215 changing exhibitions a year, specialized tours for more than 15,000 school visitors, outreach programs, lectures, workshops, classes, daily planetarium shows and live animal programs, summer and holiday camps, and six Family Days annually. Associate Professor Jon Swindler Exhibiting At Macon Museum Of Arts And Sciences
Associate Professor Jon Swindler is exhibiting in “Emerging National VII” at Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, Georgia.
Jon Swindler is exhibiting a new collaborative installation with Michael McFalls, Professor of Sculpture at Columbus State University, for the 7th annual Emerging Artists exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. This exhibition showcases rising stars from across the United States. Eight contemporary professional artists, representing some of the nations finest undergraduate and graduate art programs, will display works ranging from large-scale abstract paintings and mixed media installations to ceramic sculpture.
Four years ago, Jon Swindler and Mike McFalls started collaborating. They employ a cross-disciplinary approach to their art making that often results in an unpredictable sprawling arrangement that seeks to combine sculpture, painting, printmaking and other sorted media and materials. In many of their collaborations, remnants from the previous works are combined with elements from each of their respective individual studio practices. These combinations often reveal themselves as massive, composed piles of art material that serve as both repository and resource for their installations. As studio artists, Jon and Mike share certain inherent formal traits but widely differ when it comes to processes, ideas, and motives.
