A Spa An Outdoor Pool And 24

Tour of Houston’s Hotel Zaza in the Museum District

The hotel is equipped with a luxurious spa that offers beauty and body treatments and an outdoor pool with a patio bar. The vibe at the pool is European and glamorous, with plenty of lounge chairs. The 24-hour fitness center is large, with cardio machines and weights, and includes individual TVs for each of the machines. While there are plenty of food options within walking distance, the hotel has Monarch, its American-fare restaurant and lounge, focusing on Southern cuisine. Breakfast isn’t included with the price of a room, but there is free coffee in the lobby every morning. The ZaZa has a large amount of event space, ranging from simple to ornate. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.

Sizeable And Posh With Suites Offering Distinct Conceptual Themes

Even the most standard rooms here maintain Hotel Zazas unique, funky character, with red patterned headboards and claw foot beds. Units include free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, an iPod player, and a minibar. Bathrooms come with large steam showers, marble countertops, and C.O. Bigelow products. The Hotel ZaZa also has several levels of multi-room suites, ranging from large to palatial, through which it channels most of its design fun, creating its own versions of a New York City loft and a regal English flat for instance. Other categories include West Indies and Thats Entertainment suites, as well as the romantic space An Affair to Remember. Quite comprehensive and definitely memorable, these suites are good for long stays and/or as corporate apartments.

How Guest Reviews Work

Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score, we add up all the review scores and divide that total by the number of review scores we received. Guests can also give separate subscores in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. Guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently theres no direct link between them.

You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didnt actually stay there. To edit a review youve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.

We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.

Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

Ideally, we’d publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we wont display any reviews that include or refer to :

  • Politically sensitive comments
  • Personal or sensitive info
  • Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
  • Spam and fake content
  • Any violation of our review guidelines.

An accommodation can reply to a review.

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Tips On Houstons Museum District

When making hotel reservations, be careful to reserve the right ZaZa hotel. There are two in Houston, Museum District and Memorial City. Traffic noise in the Museum District was pronounced Friday at rush hour. All was quiet on Saturday and Sunday. Plan ahead for your museum visits, to include reservations when required. Museum district operations, across venues, differ for days, times, or both. If the Houston Museum District were a ship, then in one short weekend, we covered the gangplank. Theres so much to see and do.

Lillie & Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden

The Lillie & Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden is .3 miles from Hotel ZaZa. Its a perfect place to spend 30 minutes or 3 hours. Its free and open every day. Research provided marginal expectations. The garden is over the top. This Houston Chronicle article discusses the gardens 2018 facelift. Rodins sculpture Walking Man is one treasure. Henri Matisse exhibit, The Back Series, is another. The Back Series is a collection of 4 bronze sculptures, coined as Matisse most highly regarded sculptures. The garden has one set of nine displayed throughout the world.

Cloud Column is also an attention getter, installed in 2018. It may remind you of the Chicago Bean. It should, because its by the same artist, Anish Kapoor. The installation is dubbed the Houston Bean.

There was a bounty of bling inside the ZaZa hotel. Service was spectacular. Rooms differ abundantly in décor. We stayed in the Pool Villa room, which is light and airy, in contrast to the dark sensual vibe for the rest of the hotel. The Pool Villa bathroom has 2 sinks and shower/tub combo. French doors open to a balcony, overlooking the pool.

The Monarch is a happening onsite restaurant, frequented by Houstonians, along with hotel guests. There was a DJ outdoors, and the patio was filled, the night we were there. We opted for a quiet corner table indoors to watch the beautiful people. There were lots of them.

By the way, meals are paid for with the American Express Gold Card and 4 points are earned for every dollar spent. The smartest ways to earn and use travel reward points are covered in Strategy Workshops for the Expert Traveler. The hotel provides complimentary rides, in a Texas style limousine, within a range of 5 miles.

Edgy art was everywhere, including the elevators. The hotel has a business center with copier, computers, and tables in natural light, making ZaZa a great spot for mixing work and play.

The MFAH is .3 miles from Hotel ZaZa. We visited the temporary exhibit Glory of Spain onsite March 1, 2020 January 3, 2021. One of the displays was Francisco Goyas, The Duchess of Alba, painted in 1797. Heres a little museum tea. Goya and the Duchess may have been more than friends.

Many museums are using QR coding systems for visitor education. Pack your ear buds. MFAH is comprised of three buildings connected by underground tunnels: the Caroline Weiss Law Building, the Audrey Jones Beck Building, and the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building. The Kinder is the most recent addition to the MFAH, and opened November, 2020. It includes works from Picasso, Matisse, OKeefe, and Pollock . This is the tunnel between the Law and Beck Building, and includes a James Turrell blue masterpiece.

Hotel Zaza Creates Its Own Vibrant Style

The Hotel ZaZa somehow manages to combine funky and regal elements into a unique, posh, and sometimes over-the-top design. Large paintings, including many steely-eyed portraits, line the walls of the dark lobby. An ornate chandelier hangs next to zebra print chairs. Monarch Restaurant, while sleeker and colder overall, has several murals that keenly mock celebrity — people taking pictures of famous people, some who are looking at pictures. Overall theres a strange but not unpleasant quality to the Hotel ZaZa, something otherworldly.

Excellent location rated 9.2/10!

The atmosphere is great. First of all, you notice when you enter the lobby that it smells lovely. There is always something pretty and fun to look at, from crystal chandeliers to avant-garde art work. The service is great too – especially the guys working the valet service.

Room was nice and the bed was very comfortable and provided a good night sleep Love the mattress and pillow.
