With children playing and dinosaurs roaming near Eden’s Rivers, and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden itself, the Bible really has come to life at the Creation Museum.
This Kentucky museum is 75,000 sq feet that brings the pages of the Bible to life. Not only are the characters and animals that are found on the pages placed in familiar settings, but there is also a host of other fun activities for the kids to enjoy!
First, let’s explore the exhibits! There are so many great places to explore. Did you know that they have a world class dinosaur skeleton? Yep! The Allosaurus calls the Creation Museum home, and is one of the best preserved Allosaurus skulls ever preserved – pretty cool!
Kids can gain an understainding of other cultures with Chinese artwork, or they can get among the creepy crawlies that can be found! Did you know one insect actually weighs almost half a pound? Eek!
Kids can see exhibits of the past, with coal mines, fossil displays, and even a dinosaur skeleton under excavation. They also have exhibits detailing why we have different views about our origins.
Of course, there are exhibits about the Bible too, from Adam and Eve’s creation, to the great flood, voyage of the ark, and kids can discover what natural selection can do!
But exhibits are not the only thing in the Creation Museum! There is a Planetarium for all those stargazers, a petting zoo with sweet animals to give kids a great animal encounter, and even camel rides!
Bill Nyeken Ham Debate
In February 2014, Ham debated American and on the topic of whether young Earth creationism is a viable model of origins in the contemporary scientific era. Critics expressed concern that the debate lent the appearance of scientific legitimacy to creationism while also stimulating Ham’s fundraising. Nye said the debate was “an opportunity to expose the well-intending Ken Ham and the support he receives from his followers as being bad for Kentucky, bad for science education, bad for the U.S., and thereby bad for humankind.”
Ham said that publicity generated by the debate helped stimulate construction of the theme park, which had been stalled for lack of funds. The Ark Encounter opened on 7 July 2016, a date chosen to correspond with Genesis 7:7, the Bible verse that describes Noah entering the ark. The following day, Nye visited Ark Encounter, and he and Ham had an informal debate.
Disputes With Cmi And Ghc
At the end of 2005, the AiG Confederation crumbled due to a disagreement between Ham and Carl Wieland over the “differences in philosophy and operation”. This disagreement led to Ham effectively retaining the leadership of the UK and American branches while Wieland served as managing director of the Australian branch and the smaller offices in Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa. This splitting into two groups led to the Australian branch renaming themselves Creation Ministries International . The AiG stayed with Ham and continued to expand its staff and work closely with the Institute for Creation Research . Young Earth creationist was recruited by Ham as a consultant to help with the concluding phases of the museum project.

Legal Action By Creation Ministries Int’l
On May 31, 2007, Creation Ministries International filed a lawsuit in against Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis seeking damages and accusing him of “unbiblical/unethical/unlawful behaviour” in his dealings with the Australian organization. Before the split, the Australian group had been producing periodicals, Creation magazine and Journal of Creation, which were then distributed in other countries by local groups. The Australian group had no access to the list of subscribers in the US. AiG discontinued the distribution arrangement, and produced a new magazine of their own, called Answers, and represented that to subscribers as a replacement. Creation Ministries International claimed $252,000 in damages for lost revenue by misleading and deceptive conduct in relating to lost subscriptions.
An editorial analysis of the situation, including reference to estranged co-founder John Mackay’s allegations in 1986 of necrophilia and witchcraft against Ken Ham’s personal secretary is offered in an account in the Reports of the National Center for Science Education. In February 2009, the ordered Australian-based Creation Ministries International into arbitration with Answers in Genesis over copyrights and control of affiliates in other countries. In April 2009, the ministries reached a settlement and ended their dispute.
