Great For Young Children
Took my 2.5 year old granddaughter to the museum on a Friday morning. Arrived promptly when it opened at 10 and lasted about 2.5 hours . This place was awesome for her. She loved all the hands on things to do especially the water fun for 4 and under. There was a room upstairs especially designed for younger children . Yes, as the day progressed, it did get more crowded, and there were a few field trip kids present, but it was all very workable. If you have small children, the Childrens Discovery Museum should not be missed.

Childrens Discovery Museum Of San Jose
Kids get to learn about science in real-life waysfrom fossil-digging to bubble-blowing and gardeningat the Childrens Discovery Museum of San Jose. The location alone offers some serious Silicon Valley street cred: The distinctive purple building sits on downtown San Joses Wozniak Wayknown by locals as the Woz, and named after Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
First opened in 1990, the museum houses roughly 150 exhibits, ranging from classic displays to interactive real-world applications, and geared to kids as young as infants . Start by checking out Lupe, the replica of a woolly mammothwhose real fossils were found in Silicon Valleythen take to the neighbouring dig pits to learn how archaeologists search for fossils. In other areas, kids can make art, blow giant bubbles with bubble rings, play with worms to learn about composting, and explore the mathematical magic of circles.
Parents love the opportunities that the museum provides for family learning, whether its seeing who can create the biggest bubble, sparking scientific inquiry in Mammoth Discovery, or unleashing a misty cloud of fog in WaterWays, says museum spokesperson Cecilia Clark. And reflecting the diverse community of Silicon Valley, the exhibits feature trilingual signage: English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
