When we tell you that this hotel is set beyond the old colonnades of what was previously Lexingtons Fayette National Bank and Trust Co., the first image that comes to mind might be an old-world revival property. But peer through the buildings large windows and youll see something altogether different: colourful, fluorescent light spheres, contemporary furniture and a curated collection of vivid, contemporary artwork.

Youll also come face to face with the brands mascots, iconic, Cracking Art life-sized fibreglass penguins an Antarctic juxtaposition in a city where horse sculptures are the in thing. But of course, because this particular 21C is in Lexington, the penguin is bluegrass blue, in tribute to local racehorse legend Big Lex himself.

Improve this listingtencatdaddyAn incredible repurposing of a historic building…..outside of that…..valet was practically unrecognizable and about as helpful as the penguins on the roof . No one is in uniform so you assume you are talking to a hotel employee but they were very nice and no real issues there. Rooms were nice enough but nothing special and clean. As has become the norm there was no service for our three day stay so if you needed new linens or whatever you had to request it. OH! & the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever experienced in a hotel anywhere. Despite being on one of the upper floors noise fr/ the streets below was a factor all evening long. To put it bluntly this place is to be applauded for repurposing a building but that is pretty much the extent of it.alpinista44Chicken dying on screen as we had our hors doeuvresWe rented an event room for a welcome party for our sons wedding.
