Choose The Right Louvre Museum Entrance

Picking the right entrance queue to the Louvre is important, especially if you’re an online ticket holder. We say this because there are 4 entrances to the Louvre- the Pyramid entrance, Carrousel du Louvre, Richelieu Passage and Porte des Lions Entrance. The Pyramid is the entrance online ticket holders use to access the museum while the other entrances are dedicated to guided tours, school groups, members, etc. However, the Pyramid gate has been infamous for its unending queues over the years. In current times, thanks to better management and timed ticket entry, most of the wait and queuing time has exponentially improved for online ticket holders. The Pyramid entrance further has 4 queues marked with different colours – green to orange for those buying tickets on-site while yellow is the only line online ticket holders have to queue up at.

Way N : Get A Combo Ticket To The Louvre And A Seine River Cruise

A cruise on the Seine River will afford you some of the best views of Paris, and it can be combined with one or more of Paris attractions, including the Louvre. Cruises generally last one hour and include an audio-guide, but if you want an audio-guide for the Louvre Museum that will be an add on.

You will first visit the Louvre and then hop on the boat for memorable views of the Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre and Notre Dame. I have found two options which are both great.

Louvre reserved access and one hour cruise this combo costs 45. You can access the Louvre as early as 9:00 am and enjoy the Seine river cruise within 6 months of purchase or, quite simply, at the end of the day.

Skip the line Louvre Museum and Seine River cruise a great combo that starts at 39.99 if you only pick to have the audioguide during the cruise, and goes up to 44.90 if you select to have the audio-guide in the museum. You will be visiting the Louvre at 2:00 pm and go for the cruise immediately afterwards.

Buy Tickets For The Louvre At The Louvre Ticket Office

If you buy your Louvre tickets at the box office you can save a few dollars , but in return, you will have to wait in long lines and you risk that when you get to the box office they are already sold out for the day and time you want to see the museum.

To avoid that, if in the end you decide to buy your tickets at the box office, try to go first thing in the morning and do not choose a holiday to visit the museum. With this option, the audio guide goes separately for about six or seven dollars.

How Do Louvre Museum Tickets Work

Unlike tickets for many popular tourist attractions around the world, tickets to the Louvre Museum work in a pretty simple way. There are only really two types of ticket available, a general admission ticket and a special combined ticket that also provides access to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs for 72 hours after your Louvre visit. Tickets provide access to both permanent collections and any temporary exhibitions held at the Louvre.

When ordering your skip-the-line Louvre Museum tickets online, youll need to choose a date and a half-hour window for the start of your visit. After purchasing your tickets, youll receive an email with the tickets as a PDF. The tickets, not the confirmation email, can be presented either as a physical or digital copy when you enter the museum.

Changing the name or date on a ticket is possible by logging in through the official website. Just ensure that the name on the ticket matches that of the person using it at the museum on the day.
